The Digital Engagement Manager will deepen and expand our digital presence with strategy, editorial planning, content development, and ongoing analysis and optimization across all owned digital channels. The ideal candidate will have an interest in competency-based education (CBE) or relevant education topics and be able to deliver quality writing pieces that appeal to our audiences, manage a comprehensive content calendar, and stay up to date with new digital platforms and marketing trends. C-BEN places a high priority on exceptional customer service for all key constituents. The ideal candidate would be detail-oriented, well-organized, forward-thinking, and embody a mentorship persona.
Essential Functions
Digital Strategy
- Execute C-BEN’s communications strategy by overseeing a cohesive content plan that supports brand activities, priority initiatives and projects, and digital marketing campaigns.
Content Development
- Plan, write, and publish engaging short- and long-form content on social media platforms (including LinkedIn and Twitter/X) to grow audiences and drive engagement.
- Plan, write, and publish short- and long-form content for C-BEN’s blog, website, and email channels to engage new and existing audiences and drive key actions.
- Plan and capture live content at C-BEN events and target events where staff are deployed. Develop posts, stories, and photos to update channels in real-time.
Community and Channel Management
- Monitor C-BEN's digital channels (including social, email, and blog), respond to messages and comments from users, and engage with user-generated content.
- Monitor media coverage and social conversations about CBE, workforce development, and higher education. Develop timely content about newsworthy updates in the fields.
- Coordinate with colleagues and partners to identify content opportunities and to secure approvals and revisions, as needed.
Salesforce Implementation
- Lead C-BEN’s ongoing Salesforce Implementation project, including list migration, membership newsletter development, and staff implementation training.
- Leverage Salesforce tools, including Pardot, to develop an email and audience strategy, including content development and delivery.
Reporting and Analytics
- Capture and analyze channel media metrics across platforms (e.g., page views, impressions, open and click rates, and follower growth) to measure the success of tactics and refine future content strategies.
Website Content Management
- Regularly update and maintain website content, ensuring all information is accurate, current, and aligns with brand guidelines. This includes creating, editing, and publishing text, images, and multimedia content.
- Perform routine technical maintenance tasks such as updating software, plugins, and security patches. Monitor website performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to enhance site functionality and user experience.
- Develop and implement SEO strategies to boost search rankings and increase organic traffic by optimizing meta tags, headers, keywords, and creating SEO-friendly content.
Skills Qualifications
Subject Matter Expertise
- Proven experience as a content manager/writer or a similar role.
- Experience writing for K-12, higher education, workforce, and policymaker audiences strongly preferred.
- Interest in and experience with education, life-long learning, CBE, and skills-based hiring strongly preferred.
Platform Experience
- Experience using Sprinklr, Meltwater, or other social media management and analysis platforms, including content scheduling, approval pathways, and analytics.
- Hands-on experience working with multi-page websites and experience with WordPress or other CMS platforms, including content management, search engine optimization, and analytics.
- Advanced understanding of Pardot, HubSpot, MailChimp, Salesforce or other email marketing platform, including marketing content development and list building.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace (formerly G Suite), Zoom, and Microsoft.
Professional Skills
- Adept at writing content, copy, and messaging in a variety of styles and voices, adapting to C-BEN’s different target audiences, issue areas, and content goals as needed.
- Able to assist with creative content development, such as video shoots and graphic creation, for social media and digital platforms.

- Experience working collaboratively with colleagues and partners to seek input and advance communications goals.
- Able to effectively track multiple projects and digital channels to support consistent content creation, posting, engagement, and optimization.

Work Environment and Physical Demand
You can enjoy a flexible working environment that embraces a hybrid approach, allowing a balance of working remotely and collaborating in person with colleagues occasionally. This is a full-time, non-exempt, position that will at times exceed 40 hours per work week. Travel will be required to execute in-person events and other planning sessions or meetings and is estimated at 10% of time over the course of the year.
