About the role
We’re looking for a writer to lead our new email newsletter, The Watering Hole. TWH aims to inform and uplift the LGBTQ+ community by sharing popular, noteworthy, and relevant queer news to the community with a clear, to be defined, comedic POV/opinion. Think sections like: Relevant Political Happenings, Queer Success Stories, Tugs at the Heartstrings, Icons in the Headlines, and Singles OTW.
We aim to be a one stop shop for individuals in the LGBTQ+ community to stay informed on the things that impact them, laugh a little, and feel good as they take on the rest of their day. It will start publishing 1-2x a week, but depending on growth could become more regular.
Ideal candidate 💡💡💡
- Remote / NYC
- 2+ years of content and editorial experience
- Part of the LGBTQ+ community and/or shares our company values
- Deep understanding and keeps up with Gay Twitter, Gay News and Pop Culture
- Thinks more like a comedian than journalist, but has the writing skills of the later
- Self-starter that has the flexibility and creativity to work in a rapidly growing start-up, delivering results as an individual and within a team
- Familiarity with beehiv
Duties 💩💩💩
- Pitching content ideas / trend forecasting
- Monitoring of social media trends and staying up to date
- Develop and formalize content strategy
- Writing and deploying newsletter 1-2x per week
- Light photoshop / image manipulation / memeing skills preferred
