Position Purpose:
Under the guidance of the Vice President of Development, the Assistant Director of Development Communications will initiate and develop communications content for the bi-weekly newsletters, various appeals, stewardship reports and gift acknowledgement letters. The position will require to stay abreast of initiatives and activities at the University on an ongoing basis in order to provide content ideas for stewardship projects and continuously review the UniversityNewsroomfor this purpose.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- In partnership with colleagues in Development, Communications, Alumni Relations, and across campus, gather, synthesize, organize, and share programmatic information for donor reporting purposes.
- Take initiative in directing the many stages of design, publication and production of fundraising and campaign materials, stewardship reports, event collateral, and more, while acting as a liaison between campus staff, Development administrators, volunteers, donors, and University officials.
- Manage the AUA Office of Development social media platforms and the content on the Philanthropy pages of the AUA website.
- Work closely with the Vice President of Development on development initiatives and campaign development, including marketing production, donor recognition articles, and website content updates.
- Write Development related articles for publishing in Newsroom and the Development newsletter; in coordination with the Communications team, distribute press articles through various media outlets.
- Conduct marketing, design, and program development for virtual and physical events.
- Direct Development related video production including script-writing, narration, production instructions for videographers, and oversee revisions throughout the video-editing process.
- Supervise the work of the on-campus Development Communications Manager.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree and 2-3 years of experience in communications and marketing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated writing and editing skills for the preparation of press releases, proposals, and the drafting of related correspondence.
- Excellent time management and follow-up skills.
- Ability to work well under deadlines and to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
