THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a dynamic and driven Senior Manager, Corporate Communications to join our team. In partnership with the Director, Corporate Communications, this role is responsible for developing and leading impactful corporate communication strategies that align with organizational goals and engage key stakeholders. The ideal candidate will own the planning and execution of newsletters, industry relations communications, and thought leadership content, while providing strategic oversight for high-profile initiatives like convention and destination sales PR efforts. The position requires a strong focus on collaborating across departments, shaping organizational messaging, and driving meaningful audience engagement.

What You Will Do

  • Newsletter Management and Execution: Fully responsible for the planning, content development, and production of Member, Travel Trade, and Tourism Marketing District (TMD) newsletters. Independently collaborates with various departments to gather relevant content and ensure timely delivery. Apply strategic thinking and project management skills to own the editorial calendar, oversee the distribution process, and analyze performance metrics to optimize audience engagement. Ensure messaging consistency and adherence to brand voice across all newsletter communications. Experience with ActOn and Simpleview is a plus. (45%)
  • Industry Relations Communications: Under the leadership of the Chief Industry Relations Officer, this position will be fully responsible for communications with key industry stakeholders, including local businesses, government officials, and tourism partners. The position will need to maintain relationships, draft and distribute updates, and provide communication support for industry events and speaking engagements. Ensure messaging is aligned with Los Angeles Tourism's objectives while maintaining consistent and on-brand communications. (25%)
  • Convention and Destination Sales PR/Communications: Oversee PR and communications efforts for Citywide Convention Sales and Destination Sales, including developing messaging, drafting press releases, and reviewing advertorial content. Act as a traffic manager for content and lead collaborative efforts with the Sales team to develop targeted PR strategies and monitor industry trends to inform ongoing communication efforts. (15%)
  • Thought Leadership and Business Plan Support: Uses strategic thinking and project management to develop thought leadership content, including speeches, presentations, and bylined articles. Supports the execution of the annual business plan by aligning communication initiatives with organizational goals. Collaborate across departments to ensure strategic alignment and deliver high-impact communications that support LA Tourism's business objectives. (10%)
  • Perform other duties as assigned. (5%)

Some Other Things You May Do

  • Act as a key point of contact for media inquiries, ensuring consistent and accurate messaging when representing LA Tourism.
  • Lead bi-monthly Content Strategy and Brainstorms with internal teams to review and refine content strategies.
  • Assist in the preparation of presentations, executive briefings, and talking points for high-level meetings and public appearances.
  • Conduct quarterly analysis of newsletter performance metrics to ensure continued audience engagement and identify areas for improvement.
  • Manage project timelines and resources, ensuring all communication initiatives are delivered on time.

What You’ll Need To Succeed

  • A minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience required.
  • 3+ years of writing experience, ideally in a role that involved tailoring messages for various audiences.
  • Must be willing to partake in a comprehensive background check including a drug test in accordance with applicable laws.
  • Candidates must have prior experience working full-time with a PR agency or in-house on a public relations/communications team.
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent verbal interpersonal communication skills.
  • Dependable, great attitude, highly motivated, and a team player.
  • Possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across various departments.
  • Ability to work in a changing environment.

NICE TO HAVES

  • Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or Tourism and Hospitality Management preferred.
  • Prior travel, tourism or hospitality industry experience is preferred.
  • Experience with ActOn and Simpleview.

Compensation Range

Exact compensation may vary based on skills and experience.

$80,000 - $95,000
