The Junior Coordinator, Resilience & Outreach (JCRO) position reports to a supervisor in the Resilience and Outreach department. The JCRO helps promote the long-term goals of the organization to assist under-resourced communities prepare for climate change. The JCRO performs programmatic assignments, such as project coordination, community outreach and engagement, and preparation of reports, memos, and presentations for Climate Resolve initiatives. Climate Resolve is looking for a candidate with a commitment to equity and inclusion, and who has the ability to engage with the communities that our work serves. This is a hybrid position that requires participation at in-person events around LA County, including initiatives in communities throughout East Los Angeles, South Los Angeles, and the San Fernando Valley, so the ideal candidate will have access to reliable transportation.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Coordination
- Assist in the execution of several key programs and partnerships, upholding the organization’s standard of excellence and reputation in all activities
- Report to their direct supervisor and other project supervisors on a weekly basis to debrief activities
- Report to their direct supervisor for annual review and performance evaluations
- Engage in ongoing discussion to curate, cultivate, and offer feedback on work activities
Programmatic
- Community Outreach and Engagement
- Create facilitation guides, flyers, workshop content and training presentations, curriculum, surveys, and other materials for online and in-person outreach activities
- Support recruitment efforts for outreach activities and events, including canvassing target communities to boost event participation, coordinating email and text outreach efforts, sending calendar invites, and tracking participant info and metrics
- Coordinate other event planning logistics, such as supporting efforts to book locations for events, bringing materials to and from events, researching local, BIPOC-led vendors from which to source giveaways and food for events, and updating project budgets
- Co-host outreach events with project team and relevant partners. This could include supporting the facilitation of community workshops and charrettes, Participatory Science Walks, Camping 101 and Emergency Preparedness classes, and community-driven resilience planning events
- Compile and analyze feedback on engagement activities to inform best practices for future outreach and contribute to reporting to partners and grantors
- Track community-oriented events and opportunities for additional tabling and canvassing as needed for relevant projects, and lead those tabling and canvassing efforts
- Project Coordination, Research, and Reporting
- Participate in relevant internal and external team meetings for scoped projects to keep track of project progress and deliverables
- Plan for check-ins and partner meetings by contributing to agendas and communicating with internal and external team members
- Conduct research and writing for project deliverables, grant reports and funding applications
- Attend and present at ad-hoc policy meetings, conferences, and other events relating to resilience and outreach
- Liaise with project-specific funders and partners, serving as a professional and congenial representative of the organization in all activities
Communications
- In collaboration with the Development & Communications Team, generate media and communications content related to project initiatives for public dissemination, such as original content for newsletter, website, blogs, and social media

The Junior Coordinator, Resilience & Outreach will be thoroughly committed to Climate Resolve's mission. All candidates should have proven experience:
Required
- A Bachelor's Degree
- 1-3 years of experience in project coordination, preferably in the nonprofit sector
- Experience with in-person outreach, e.g. tabling, canvassing and comfortable speaking in public with diverse communities in a professional and personable manner
- Knowledge and ability to communicate about climate, transportation, land use, and/or public health and planning standards; have a keen awareness of the inequities exacerbated by climate change and its disproportionate effect on Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) communities
- Proficiency at being collegial and collaborative, forming and maintaining partnerships with diverse stakeholders and constituencies; able to incorporate feedback from multiple perspectives into decision-making processes
- Effectively executing performance- and outcomes-based programmatic activity and deliverables, using evaluation methods for continuous improvement
- Excellent time management skills with ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks; able to work under tight deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite platforms
- A positive, can-do attitude and the ability to work well on a team, as well as independently, and a willingness to ask for help as needed
Preferred
- Working knowledge of project management tools such as Asana
- Interest in building other nonprofit skills such as budgeting and grant writing
- Working knowledge of communications and media platforms such as Canva, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and WordPress
- Some familiarity with the Southern California landscape (particular sectors of interest include: NGOs, service, health, faith, academia, and local government)
