Western National Mutual Insurance Company is seeking to expand its Communications and Customer Experience team by adding a Communications Intern. Our company growth, combined with our focus on innovation, transformation, and investments in the customer experience are key drivers supporting the expansion of our team. The Communications Intern will provide support to a variety of projects and initiatives, while playing a key role in our day-to-day operations.

Western National Internship Program Summary:
Western National provides a robust internship program designed for individuals aiming to acquire valuable experience in the insurance industry. This program not only offers practical, hands-on opportunities and project work in partnership with our premium billing team; but interns will also have the opportunity to enhance their existing skill sets through a range of professional development activities, cultivate relationships with employees and fellow interns, and participate in impactful volunteer initiatives within the community.
Position Summary:
As a Communications Intern in our Internship Program, you will be a key contributor to our Communications Team. Possible tasks that you assist with include:
- Participate in Communication projects supporting organization initiatives.
- Create and distribute companywide communications.
- Help develop a wide variety of content such as videos, social media graphics, blog posts, newsletter articles, and more. Ensure brand standards are upheld in all content created.
- Support logistics for any companywide events and assist with photography for company culture events.
- Perform day-to-day support for key internal communications.
- Help with annual content audit for public-facing websites, intranet, and other projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Currently working toward a degree in marketing, communications, or related field.
- 3.0 or higher GPA preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines, work independently, and be an effective team member.
- Demonstrated ability to be detail oriented.
- Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office programs and popular social media platforms.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and WordPress platform preferred (or willingness to learn).
- Proven experience working in an office environment preferred.
Compensation Overview:
The base pay offered for this position will be $20.00/hour.
