Summary Description:
The Communications and Engagement Specialist will perform duties under the direction of the Executive Director. This is a full-time position.
Responsibilities include managing web communications and social networking, updating and maintaining data bases, and providing Communications support to staff.
Qualified candidates for the position of Communications and Engagement Specialist will have strong project management skills. They will also be well organized and flexible with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with all levels of management and staff, elected officials, members of the public, and youth from diverse backgrounds as well as outside partners and vendors. They will have strong computer and internet research capabilities.
Duties Include:
I. Coordinate the Development and Production of all YCB Promotional Materials including those materials used by Child Friendly Cities and other related projects· Create, edit and design YCB monthly newsletter for staff, board, and stakeholders.· Create, edit and design YCB Fact Sheets, YCB Annual Report, and other collateral materials.· Assist Minneapolis Youth Congress with development of materials such as fact sheets, brochures, etc.· Create flyers, posters, invitation, and programs for events.
· Expand the number of individuals and organizations who receive YCB materials and manage the YCB data base.
· Assist other YCB programs with promotional materials as needed.
II. Management of YCB Web Site· Reorganize and update the YCB website.· Update Site with latest information, create new links.
· Work with YCB staff to maintain and update their web pages.
III. Managing the Village Project – Teen, Parent and Provider Program Finder
· Liaise with the staff of the Village to ensure its effective usefulness in Minneapolis.
· Assist Village staff in marketing the Village in Minneapolis to parents, teens, and providers.
· Work with the Strategic Planning Specialist and the Village staff to report data.
I. Manage YCB Media and Social Media Presence
· Implement a Social Media Plan
· Write and distribute news releases and media alerts.
· Create media opportunities that promote the YCB mission, goals and priority areas,
· Develop talking points for staff and YCB jurisdictional partners including elected officials.
· Monitor media for information relevant to the YCB and disseminate to staff and partners.
II. Event Planning
· Assist in planning special events for the YCB, the Minneapolis Youth Congress and Child Friendly Cities.
· Create materials for events such as invitations, programs, material packets, banners, etc.
· Assist to secure speakers and facilities for special events.
III. Other
• Provide training and support to staff on best practices for communications and engagement.
• Develop resources and tools to enhance the team's communication skills.
• Track and analyze the performance of communications and engagement activities.
· Provide regular reports on key metrics and insights to the team.
· Complete other activities as requested.
Qualifications:
BA Degree or equivalent.
Experience managing a web site, social networking, and databases.
Experience using a very of platforms such as Sharepoint, Teams, Smartsheet, Tableau, etc.
Excellent project management skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritize.
Professional demeanor and experience working as a member of a staff team.
Self-starter and flexible.
Demonstrated ability to carry out core business activities such as writing high quality letters, descriptions, newsletter articles and web content and ability to proofread/edit others work.
Experience working well with all levels of management and staff, elected officials, members of the public, and youth from diverse backgrounds as well as outside partners and vendors.
Compensation and hours:
100% time, typically Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day
Staff are eligible for benefits from the City of Minneapolis.
Salary – $55,000 – 60,000
