JOB TITLE: Recreation Intern (Part-Time/Seasonal)
DEPARTMENT: Parks, Trails, and Recreation
SUPERVISOR: Recreation Supervisor
SALARY: $21.00 per hour
This is a part-time, partially benefited position.
BENEFITS: Partially benefited part-time employees earn 1 sick leave hour for every 30 hours worked. Up to 48 hours can be rolled over per year.
SCHEDULE/REMOTE/HYBRID: This position may involve working a variety of schedules, including evenings. Remote and/or hybrid schedules are not available.
RELOCATION: This position is located in Greenwood Village, Colorado. Relocation assistance is not provided.
REQUIREMENTS: Some experience in the recreation field, specifically on-site teaching youth and adult activities. Must be at least eighteen years of age.

The City of Greenwood Village welcomes your interest in the Recreation Intern position with the Parks, Trails and Recreation Department. The purpose of this position is to provide program oversight to the recreation program with the youth and adult sports programs and assist at Village special events.
As a municipal organization, Greenwood Village is a provider of emergency services. Some emergency situations, including weather-related emergencies, may necessitate Greenwood Village employees to assist in areas of work that may not be directly related to the employee’s specific job function, but which will be within the physical capabilities, training, and skills of the employee.
Distinguishing Characteristics: The purpose of this position is to provide program oversight to the recreation program with the youth and adult sports programs and assist at Village special events.
Essential Functions
- Sport League Activities
- Provides on-site supervision for youth and adult sports programs.
- Preparation of field/equipment setup to include, but not limited to, field lining, net set-up & takedown, field safety checks, and other programs supplies.
- Preparation, completion, and collection of game result sheets, officials’ signatures on results sheets; and providing customer service information necessary for individual programs.
- Manages participant waiver, player add-on forms for athletic leagues.
- Serves as a direct liaison between participants and Village, providing good customer service skills.
- Prepares and distributes promotional materials describing athletic leagues, requirements, and schedules; notifies various media sources about events and activities.
- Special Event Activities
- Provides staff support for Village special events including, but not limited to, carnival booth worker, hand out giveaways, check in participants, serve food, rental set-up and take-down, painting, and taking pictures.
- Miscellaneous Administrative Functions
- Meets with or responds to questions from citizens and users of facilities and programs.
- Provides staff support to Parks, Trails and Recreation Department front counter.
- Provides registration on CivicRec.
- Prepares articles and takes pictures for monthly newsletter and monthly department updates.
- Officiate games at Adult Sports programs.
Position Requirements
Knowledge and Ability Requirements:
- Various sport rules to include softball, volleyball, kickball, and basketball
- Principles of customer service-related techniques
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products
- Keep accurate records
- Lift and set-up various sport equipment
- Communicate with customers
- CPR/First Aid certification helpful
Experience And Training
- Some experience in the recreation field, specifically on-site teaching youth and adult activities.
- Must be at least eighteen years of age.
Licenses and Certifications
- Must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.

Standard office equipment. Miscellaneous equipment including golf cart, field liner, ball drag; motor vehicle.
Contact With Others
External contact with user groups or individuals and the general public. Internal contact with other department representatives who coordinate activities.
Supervisory Requirements
Receives general supervision from the Recreation Supervisor. May exercise technical or functional supervision over youth Recreation Aides.
