PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Marketing Coordinator position provides marketing and public relations support, and is responsible for planning, managing and implementing social media efforts, marketing campaigns, and public relations functions as necessary. Reporting to the Director of Marketing & PR, the Marketing Coordinator position plays a key role in executing the day to day duties contributing to the Marketing Plan of Work.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION
The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for supporting and promoting the mission and vision of Visit Aurora. The functions for which the department is responsible include:
- Website Development, Content Creation, and Maintenance
- Visit Aurora Blog Planning, Creation, and Launch
- Social Media Efforts
- Public Relations Functions
- Visitor Guide Planning and Production Support
SUPERVISORY RELATIONS
This position reports to the Director of Marketing & PR.
BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related field
- Software knowledge: Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign, and Illustrator, WordPress, and basic HTML coding preferred
- Knowledge of business writing, grammar, and excellent proofreading skills
- Working knowledge of Google Analytics and social media platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Website & Blog
- Develop concept, write, edit, and proofread content for VisitAurora.com and blog posts
- Contact businesses directly for existing content, photography, and any additional amenities that promote their business
- Assess, report, troubleshoot, and correct any technical challenges in displaying website content
- Work with the Director of Marketing & PR to facilitate monthly web checks, ensuring that all website forms are reporting correctly, and all sections of the site are maintained at least once per month to ensure functionality, accuracy, and comprehensive information is needed
- Plan, manage, and execute content calendar
Public Relations & Social Media
- Assist the Director of Marketing & PR with distribution of digital and original content through all social, digital, and print media outlets
- Manage Tempest/iDSS database to maintain updated and comprehensive national and international media lists as well as local/regional in-house list
- Assist with tracking and reporting print, online and broadcast publicity coverage for monthly reporting purposes using database– compile monthly and quarterly reports
- Create, coordinate and schedule content and updates to Facebook and other social media efforts deemed effective
- Monitor social media results and adjust strategy as needed
- Assist with the planning and coordination of influencer campaigns
- Update online press room with new releases as assigned by Director of Marketing & PR
- Distribute newsletter and direct e-mail media correspondence
- Assist with coordination of media Familiarization Tours, including itinerary development
- Assemble and distribute media materials as needed
- Assist with the creation, proofing, and pitching of press releases to media outlets
Visitor’s Guide
- Work with Director of Marketing & PR to produce story leads, gather photography, and facilitate any photoshoots necessary for the production of the Visitor’s Guide.
- Coordinate data entry of all distribution with support from the Director of Marketing & PR
- Work with Director of Marketing & PR and Cooperative to process, proof and input partner information as part of annual Visitor’s Guide production
SECONDARY DUTIES
Performs other activities as may be assigned by the Director of Marketing & PR. This job description reflects the assignment of essential functions. It does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned.
EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS
- Work with and support the service needs of Visit Aurora partners and various community members and contractors.
