The Olympic Club, a private member athletic and country club in San Francisco, seeks a
Digital Communications Specialist for our Lakeside Clubhouse. At The Olympic Club, our members enjoy two clubhouses, 19 sports, world-renowned golf courses, exceptional social and athletic programs as well as 18 hotel rooms and five dining outlets. Our City Clubhouse is located one block from Union Square and within easy walking distance of the Powell Street BART station. Our Lakeside Clubhouse sits next to the ocean on the border of San Francisco and Daly City.
The Olympic Club offers employees free meals daily and golf on Mondays at Lakeside and a variety of sports and social events for employees throughout the year.
Position Summary: The Digital Communications Specialist will assist the Marketing & Membership Department under the direction of the Digital Communications Manager (DCM), with a focus on projects related to the Club’s Lakeside property. This position will work on-site with the occasional work from home option.
Position Overview: The Digital Communications Specialist will create marketing and promotional content in support of all aspects of the Club’s business operations. Business operations include athletics (daily play, leagues, tournaments, lessons, Junior camps and member groups), fitness and wellness, hotel rooms, social events, dining and merchandise. The Digital Communications Specialist will produce digital content and promotional materials to enhance the member experience and support digital projects that enhance Club-wide business operations.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Regularly produce content to enhance the member experience at The Olympic Club, and to support business operations, including flyers, programs/brochures, email campaigns, website updates and other projects, as needed
- Digital lead for the Club’s athletics and fitness program
- Produce their monthly e-newsletters, OC website updates, digital signage and other projects, as needed
- Serve as communications liaison for the Senior Golf Association (SGA) and Women’s Golf Network (WGN)
- Assist members with event programming, membership tracking, monthly e-newsletters, OC website updates and other projects, as needed
- Create marketing materials for various athletics programs at both clubhouses
- Assist the DCM in the creation of the weekly Club-wide e-newsletter
- Assist DCM in planning and implementing social media content and campaigns
- Serve as lead for the Club’s golf- and tennis-specific social media content calendars
- Photograph/film golf, tennis and social events at Lakeside
- Occasional assistance may be required at our City Clubhouse location or off-property
- Collaborate with and/or assist our Contributing member photographers and videographers at shoots
- Write articles for the Olympian magazine ranging from event recaps to sports results to the occasional feature story.
- Responsible for managing weekly Club video updates
- Implement occasional OC Mobile App notifications to specific interest groups (i.e., golf, tennis, clubhouse, dining)
- Add video elements to OC website and social media channels, potentially filming and editing short videos in conjunction with staff and/or members
- Serve as department representative at golf and tennis events
- Work with departments across the Club to get the pulse of their digital needs, and identify ways to solve those issues within our current framework or by implementing new digital features
- Produce monthly Club podcast “The Winged ‘O’ Podcast” in partnership with Club historian
- Record and edit raw audio files, ensuring content fits Club branding and goals

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 1+ year of marketing experience, preferably in athletics and/or events
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere) and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Superb writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail
- Experience in working with and enforcing brand guidelines
- Skilled in photography, videography and video editing
- Familiarity with email clients (i.e. Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Stripo)
- Experience managing social media platforms (i.e. Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn)
- Familiarity with video platforms (i.e. Vimeo)
- Passionate creator who can develop content with minimal guidelines/instruction. Must be a self-starter, willing to work independently and expand their skills.
- Strong project management skills with ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects at once
- Friendly demeanor and ability to deal diplomatically with staff and members
- Available to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and occasional holidays
- Ability to travel to and between both clubhouses
Desired Qualifications
- Basic HTML and WordPress (or similar content management system) experience
- Familiarity of audio editing software (i.e. Adobe Audition, Descript)
- Familiarity with AP Style
- Familiarity with photography and video equipment, ability to set up lighting, backdrops, and other equipment as required
- Knowledge of golf, tennis or other athletics
