JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION TITLE: Life Enrichment CoordinatorSUPERVISOR’S TITLE: Director of Life EnrichmentSTATUS: Hourly / Non-exempt SUMMARY Responsible for assisting the Director of Life Enrichment in planning, scheduling and coordinating meaningful activities appropriate to the needs and interests of residents and conducive to their physical, mental and social well-being. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.Assist the Director of Engagement with planning, scheduling, and coordinating all resident activities including special events following the Life Enrichment programs on a monthly basis. Ensure active facilitation and successful implementation of the life enrichment program.Assist in the planning and coordination of a balanced program of spiritual, emotional, intellectual, vocational, social, physical and environmental activities with the intent of including all residents in some area of lifestyle activity.Promote a healthy community culture for all residents and team members. This is a whole-person approach to health and wellness which includes eight dimensions of wellness: Emotional, Environmental, Health Services, Intellectual, Physical, Social, Spiritual and Vocational. Ensure and exceed residents’ wellness needs relating to their mind, body and soul, which may also have a positive effect on the team members, as a result.Assist in tracking of activity participation for all Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Inspiration residents.Assist in communicating information to the wellness department regarding activity ability changes in status that may require resident Care Plan updates.Lead daily resident activities per our community standards.Assist in gathering each resident’s interests through the social history for planning person-centered approach activities.Assist with preparing and distributing monthly calendars according to the community standards.Assist with gathering information, articles, and photos for newsletter.Assist with preparation and distribution of weekly program contents.Assist the Director in maintaining an adequate supply of adult activity materials.Assist the Director in training all team members on activity-related programs.May be responsible for transporting residents to appointments, as well as regular and special recreational outings.The community embraces a culture of hospitality. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation:High school diploma or equivalent. Associates degree preferred. Must possess current and valid driver’s license and driving record consistent with requirements of driving policy.
Experience: Six months experience working in assisted living or with seniors preferred.
Mathematical Skills:Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Reasoning Skills:Ability to learn and work with specific needs of those residents suffering from dementia.Oral/WrittenCommunication SkillsThe ability to speak, read and comprehend the English languageMust be artistically creative, motivational, and energetic with a passion for serving othersMust possess patience and sensitivity to others’ needs; ability to work with community groups; willingness to work beyond normal working hoursFamiliarity with Adobe Acrobat and/or Adobe ReaderFamiliarity with required electronics, including but not limited to iPads, tablets, smart TV’s and digital camerasFamiliarity with social media preferredGood communication skills (oral and written)Good inter-department communication and teamwork skillsCapable of administering team member incentive, retention and training programsKnowledge preparation and line production communication to other line/prep/dish person/ leadership team membersRoutinely process written information as in policies and procedures, posted notices, instruction materials, regulations, etc.Routinely complete forms and other written documentation.Routinely observe resident actions, gestures, and facial expressions.Equipment Used:Vehicles, general office equipment.Physical Effort:Must be mobile. Demonstrates genuine concern for the physical and emotional needs of older people and their families.Working Conditions:Well-lighted, air-conditioned health care environment.
