Growing Personal Care Brand is seeking a Director of People to join their team.
You will be responsible for leading HR strategies, policies, and programs. This role ensures that our people operations support our strategic goals and foster a thriving workplace culture.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Shape culture and organize activities that align teams with our core values, boosting team morale, employee retention and fostering stronger employee engagement
- Guide senior leaders, managers, and employees through various HR topics including employee relations, policy adherence, conflict resolution, change and performance management.
- Act as the administrator for all HR Business functions including Payroll, Benefits, and Talent Acquisition
- Manage the employee life cycle including but not limited to onboarding, new hire orientation and training, leave of absence, performance management, and offboarding
- Partner with the accounting team to ensure payroll is administered properly, ensuring compliance and accurate processing of compensation
- Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring/escalating complex and/or sensitive personnel matters appropriately.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommend best practices; review policies to maintain compliance.
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to leadership.
- Oversee recruitment processes; collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Effectively plan and communicate upcoming projects, policies, changes by developing strategies and anticipating impacts on the team; this includes curating a monthly staff newsletter and associated messaging
- Assist with constructive and timely performance assessments
- Assist leadership with developing a people plan (workforce planning) for the organization
Requirements
- 5-7 years of professional experience in a Human Resources role
- Professional HR certification (SHRM, HCI)
- Proven expertise with HRIS/Payroll software systems (preferably Rippling!), including payroll processing
- Excellent cross-functional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain relationships at all levels within the organization
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations, in all states
