Digiday Media is looking for an experienced journalist to oversee Digiday’s coverage of the media industry, with an emphasis on major publishers such as The New York Times, News Corp, Axel Springer, BuzzFeed, Vox Media and Dotdash Meredith.
- The senior media editor will be well-sourced at major publishers as well as at top companies that work with publishers, including tech platforms, advertisers, agencies and ad tech firms.
- The candidate will be knowledgeable about publishers’ various business models, including advertising, subscriptions, commerce, events and content licensing.
- This person will also have an understanding of the editorial and product sides of publishers’ organizations, such as audience development strategies, video and podcast operations and newsroom unionization efforts.
- The candidate will be familiar with the history of publishers’ relationships with tech platforms — particularly search and social platforms — and be up to date on their dealings with generative AI companies.
- The senior media editor will be responsible for producing the weekly Media Briefing newsletter.
- They will manage the senior media reporter and be responsible for editing their stories.
- The senior media editor will also participate in Digiday events, such as by hosting on-stage discussions with industry executives.
- The candidate will also take the lead on investigative reporting efforts on significant industry trends and challenges.
- They will work with other editorial teams to ensure cohesive coverage across Digiday’s platforms.
