Amazon is hiring an editor to oversee tech and innovation news for Amazon’s corporate news site, AboutAmazon.com. As part of the Amazon News editorial team, you will help make the site the primary and most trusted source of information about Amazon for external audiences. You will be expected to edit news and search-driven content for the site, and you may assign and edit staff writers and/or freelance writers from time to time. There will be also travel opportunities throughout the year to cover live Amazon events, like AWS re:Invent. The role sits within Amazon’s Communications & Corporate Responsibility org.
The ideal candidate brings digital journalism and storytelling expertise, with strong news judgment and innovative content ideas. You will ideate with multiple teams and generate and assign stories about Amazon across tech and innovation topics, using a combination of audience data and editorial judgment. Your understanding of data-driven digital journalism and SEO principles will be crucial in guiding editorial strategy.
This is an individual contributor role that will be expected to work cross-functionally across the Amazon News team and the wider communications org. You will partner with communications stakeholders to understand specific objectives, audiences, and messaging requirements for each content piece, using these insights to develop effective content strategies and expand story reach.

Key job responsibilities
Strategy: Work with our team’s editor in chief to implement the Amazon News editorial strategy for your beats. Create and execute data-driven and SEO-optimized content strategies to maximize impact.
Partnership: Serve as a content strategy partner to communications teams, providing guidance throughout the content lifecycle from planning to execution and analysis. Build and maintain productive relationships across teams to ensure alignment and successful content delivery.
Content: Lead editorial content development for key news moments across tech and innovation topics through collaboration with communications teams, ensuring high editorial standards and alignment with strategic objectives.
Analytics and performance: Use data insights from organic traffic, SEO performance, recirculation rates, and other metrics to make data-informed strategic adjustments for content optimization.
Experimenting and scaling: Develop and document best practices, create efficient playbooks and toolkits to standardize processes and scale successful content initiatives.
About The Team
This role is part of the Amazon News team within Communications & Corporate Responsibility, which oversees AboutAmazon.com websites, including content and SEO, as well as the Amazon News email newsletter.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of communications, marketing, or journalism experience
- 3+ years of digital content or content marketing experience
- Experience working with data and analytics to make strategic content decisions
- A strong understanding of SEO; experience using SEO tools such as SEMrush, Google Trends, etc., and an understanding of how to use that to strategically create search-driven content
- Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in digital media or digital journalism
- Experience developing, editing, and planning web and/or blog content, including using CMS tools
- Experience conducting keyword research and trend analyses with Google Trends and other tools to monitor seasonal and real-time trends
- A strong understanding of Google’s algorithm and the key factors that can impact visibility in organic search results and Top News results
- Familiarity with, or willingness to experiment with, technology tools (e.g. GenAI) for content creation
- Innovates and creates new, attention-grabbing, and effective content ideas
- Has worked globally and developed scalable best practices
- Ability to exercise high judgment in narrow time-frames
- Self-driven, entrepreneurial spirit—enjoys taking responsibility and making things happen
- Knowledgeable about digital communications and content trends and able to apply these insights to their work
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $72,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $155,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
