We are hiring a GIS product manager to join our team. We seek someone curious, hard-working, and excited to leverage modern technologies and practices to build high-quality government products.
We use a range of technologies, including Knack, a no-code workflow management service, enterprise platforms like PowerBI and ArcGIS, and mature open-source languages like Python and React, to build custom solutions when out-of-the-box solutions.
By digitizing paper processes, optimizing operational workflows, and improving data quality, our Product Managers support a range of users from field techs to Executives. You will apply and contribute to our product operations processes to deliver high-quality products and services strategically, transparently, equitably, and efficiently.
You will support our Geospatial team and their essential data sets. They maintain several of the department’s most critical datasets, and you will document the team’s work for executive and non-technical audiences of the website and newsletter.
You will also manage the implementation and launch of a new geospatial data platform and consider the data set with a product mindset, identifying strategies to increase its versatility, quality, interoperability, and sustainability over time.
Responsibilities:
Partner with the Geospatial team lead to prioritize, document, and manage spatial data projects and GIS support requests.
Proactively champion geospatial products and initiatives, foster collaboration, and promote department-wide standardization of data and processes.
Work with end users to identify needs, define scope, and prioritize work from high-level projects to specific application features, datasets, and map requests.
Ensure requirements and user stories are fully understood and that implementation plans match expectations.
Actively monitor project risks and scope creep to identify potential problems and solutions.
Triage service requests for geospatial support and all service requests
Use an agile project management framework to organize their work.
Document project status and strategic recommendations to team members, end users, division stakeholders, and executive leadership via the website and newsletter
Required Skills:
3+ years of professional experience managing software, digital services, or data products
Experience with spatial data, online maps, and map deliverables
Experience using agile project management to facilitate cross-functional collaboration and iterative delivery
Ability to self-direct and self-manage among tight deadlines, prioritization conflicts, and resource constraints
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent relationship management skills that include forming authentic and trustworthy connections with stakeholders
