Duties and Responsibilities
- Skilled event manager with a passion for developing event experiences that align with strategic priorities. This is both a strategic and logistics role.
- Proven track record of planning, producing, and evaluating large, small, and high-profile events for diverse audiences
- Ability to lead collaborative efforts across teams and departments for successful event planning and execution
- Extreme attention to detail with familiarity of project management principles
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, decentralized environment
- Skilled at finding opportunity in change and uncertainty
- Strong written and verbal communication with the ability to formulate and communicate creative ideas at all levels of the University
Roles & Responsibilities
- Define and execute a strategic vision for community engagement through year-round OIDEI experiences in addition to annual signature events.
- Lead the planning and execution of OIDEI signature events for the University community.
- Build and sustain relationships with campus partners and external speakers/vendors for strategy, logistics, and execution.
- Serve as event point person for the OIDEI and address any inquiries or suggestions for events made by campus partners.
- Advance the strategic growth and enhancement of OIDEI events and experiences by analyzing event data and composing reports to provide valuable insights for strategic planning and informed decision-making.
- Produce compelling Heritage Awareness content, encompassing engaging social media posts and informative newsletter materials, to amplify heritage awareness throughout the university.
- Recruitment and leadership of event planning committees comprised of various campus partners as applicable.
- Continue the development of a detailed event framework manual designed to execute and measure the impact of OIDEI events and experiences.
- Craft compelling promotional materials to further enhance visibility and participation of OIDEI’s initiatives and events.
- Facilitate and support Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging ( DEIB ) training sessions.

Minimum Education And/or Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- Three (3) or more years of event management experience; ideally related to diversity, equity, and inclusion

- Three (3) or more years of event management experience; ideally related to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Experience managing a team or volunteers
- Budget management experience
- Commitment to and deep understanding of issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Ability to work with individuals from a wide range of cultures, beliefs, and backgrounds
- Excellent interpersonal skills, facilitation/presentation skills and the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Solid knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs such as MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing events in a university setting
- Experience managing vendor relationships
- Understanding of project management software
Certificates/Credentials/Licenses
Bachelor’s degree and Three (3) or more years of event management experience; ideally related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Computer Skills
Solid knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs such as MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook
