Apartment Therapy was originally launched in 2001 by interior designer Maxwell Ryan (nicknamed “The Apartment Therapist”) as a weekly newsletter for clients. We officially became an independently-owned company in 2004, and since then Apartment Therapy Media has grown to become the only media group dedicated to life at home. We are committed to teaching our audience real-life solutions by giving them tools to create happy, healthy homes through our award-winning brands: Apartment Therapy, The Kitchn, Cubby, and Dorm Therapy. Together, our portfolio engages a monthly audience of 47 million users across platforms, while our dedicated team of over 140 professionals collaborates from our sunny New York City office and locations across the U.S. and around the globe.
Apartment Therapy is seeking a Senior Editor to join our Home team, which includes our home style, projects, house tours, and Before & After coverage. The role will report to Apartment Therapy’s Executive Home Director and work with senior editorial leadership to support the short- and long-term goals of all of the home verticals.
We’re looking for an experienced and creative Senior Editor, Home to join our dynamic digital media team. In this role, you’ll take the lead in ideating, writing, assigning, and editing engaging, high-quality content with a strong focus on service and SEO. You’ll plan and execute mid- to long-lead, deeply reported features on home-related topics like design, DIY, and special projects.
We're seeking a writer and editor who can juggle multiple priorities with ease. The ability to write and edit search and service-centric stories that resonate with our audience is essential, as is the skill to spot emerging and interesting trends in home design. In today’s fast-paced digital environment, this role requires flexibility, nimbleness, and a commitment to adapting to evolving content strategies.
The ideal candidate for this role is someone who can shape, strategize, and execute a content lineup aimed at meeting our monthly goals — keeping SEO, audience engagement, authority, and brand initiatives in mind. They should also be a skilled collaborator, capable of working with freelance contributors and other team members to deliver high-impact stories and special projects.
