Position Summary
The Content and Strategy Manager is responsible for the development, proposal, implementation, and management of innovative digital content, social media content, and university branding campaigns. The Content and Strategy Manager reports to the AVP of Communications and Brand Marketing.

Description Of Job Duties
Work to ensure that all electronic content in areas identified below are up-to-date and accurate; well-crafted and engaging; meets university style standards; and consistent with University branding and marketing strategies.
Strategy Support:
- Develop and distribute crisis communication and emergency messaging;
- Assist with social media paid advertising initiatives;
- Maintain, update, and enforce university’s official social media policy;
- Develop and deliver training for university employees launching social media initiatives in a professional capacity;
- Provide guidance, feedback and mentorship for university employees utilizing social media in their respective areas;
- Write scripts and develop storyboards for university’s branding commercials, in partnership with Brand Marketing and Advertising Manager.
Social Media: Including uiwcardinals, Facebook, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube accounts.
- Identify new and effective platforms the university can use and implement strategies/develop content for these additional platforms;
- Regularly respond to private messages received on the university’s main social media channels (@uiwcardinals);
- Maintain and regularly update official UIW social media directory;
- Assist the Media and Public Relations Manager with news release distribution through social media outlets and digital platforms;
- Establish metrics and tracking of social media initiatives and utilize data to inform improved social media content and strategies;
- Take photos and create graphics for social media content.
Video Projects and Video Storytelling:
- Serve as lead in assigned project;
- Provide video services to other University departments;
- Coordinate efforts with third-party vendors/videographers;
- Develop scripts and storyboards;
- Provide on-site direction and oversight during production;
- Film video content;
- Edit final video pieces and/or provide direction for third party vendor throughout post-production process.
Special Event Support:
- Promote various university events through social media platforms;
- Write event scripts and remarks;
- Provide day-of live social media coverage;
- Develop event social media experience for attendees (hashtag campaigns, geofilters, photo asset collection, etc.).
Electronic Community Newsletter:
- Provide approval of selected content to be featured;
- Delegate story assignments to Communications Officer;
- Edit story submissions;
- Write featured content;
- Distribute to audience of approximately 60,000 alumni, parents, donors and community members;
- Monitor newsletter analytics to improve publication.
Cross-campus Support:
- Create social media campaigns to run on UIW’s main social media platforms in support of Development and Alumni initiatives;
- Develop social media content calendars for other University departments (ex: UIW Athletics) in support of Development campaigns;
- Provide video production direction for promotion of various campaigns;
- Assist with creation of graphic design.
Position is expected to stay abreast of trends in online communications and social media and advise on the adoption of new social media practices and platforms.
Qualifications
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Strong functional knowledge of social media principles, practices, and desire to apply that knowledge in a professional environment;
- Ability to learn and adhere to UIW brand standards and marketing practices;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Excellent knowledge of AP style guide with strong editing skills;
- Strong computer skills with Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office Suite;
- Strong editing skills,
- Excellent project management skills and ability to meet deadlines;
- Familiarity with the basic principles of communications and brand marketing;
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures;
- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA .
Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or closely related field.
Required Work Experience
Four (4) years of relevant communications and marketing experience in a higher education, advertising agency, or other relevant environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in relevant field.

Work Hours
Monday – Friday 8am to 5pm with extended hours as needed to meet departmental goals.
Physical Demands
- Ability to actively move about campus to attend meetings and events, film social media videos, and collaborate with various departments.
- Agility to climb bleachers, stairs, ladders, etc… to film video and secure digital photography at various events.
- Ability to repetitively and regularly lift up to 25lbs of media equipment.
