Job Purpose
The Program Assistant provides comprehensive administrative, operational, and programming support for the Ralph J. Bunche International Affairs Center. The role facilitates the Center’s activities and initiatives, ensuring effective communication, engagement, and promotion of international education.
Supervisory Responsibility
May supervise volunteers and/or student workers, including Federal Work Study employees.
Nature And Scope
- Internal Contacts: Faculty, staff, and students.
- External Contacts: Embassy partners, donors, domestic and international university partners, NGO partners, and other stakeholders.
Principal Accountabilities
Operations and Administrative Support
- Serve as the first point of contact for the Bunche Center, greeting visitors, managing the main phone line, responding to email inquiries, and handling general logistical tasks.
Communication and Marketing
- Manage the development and distribution of the monthly newsletter.
- Create digital and print graphics, marketing materials (e.g., flyers and logos), and maintain the department’s WordPress web page.
- Oversee and update social media platforms, ensuring timely information sharing and audience engagement.
Program Coordination
- Coordinate student initiatives, such as the Bunche Brigade and the Passport Drive.
- Support the Study Abroad Program Manager by assisting with information sessions, tabling at events, and addressing student inquiries.
Event Support
- Assist in planning and coordinating events, including the annual series, panels, and guest speaker programs.
Student Supervision
- Coordinate and provide oversight for student employees, including those in the Federal Work Study program.
Core Competencies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, WordPress, and social media platforms.
- Familiarity with newsletter production, event planning, and designing promotional materials.
- Strong commitment to advancing internationalization initiatives for students.
- Ability to innovate and develop creative programming to promote international education.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree required. Minimum 2-3 years administrative experience, communications or other relevant experience. Experience living abroad preferred, but not required.
Compliance Salary Range Disclosure
Expected Pay Range: $24.32 - $26.75 per hour
