The Office of Undergraduate Research is excited to announce the advertisement of an Event and Communications Coordinator.
The Event and Communications Coordinator for the Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) is responsible for event management and logistics for the office, from planning and promotion to implementation and assessment. This position provides administrative and logistical support for the comprehensive planning of Discover USC. This position also manages communications for OUR, including the website, newsletter, and social media presence. The Event and Communications Coordinator manages records within OUR databases and supervises a student assistant.
Job Related Minimum Required Education And Experience
Requires a bachelor’s degree and no prior work experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Experience planning events, implementing events, and evaluating effectiveness of events. Experience managing professional social media accounts. Experience with website management and communications.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Advanced expertise in Microsoft Word and Excel, proficiency in other Microsoft Office Suite applications, and Adobe Acrobat. Ability to prioritize tasks in fast-paced environment with competing priorities. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and work in a professional manner with a diverse constituency of students, faculty, and staff. Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills. Ability to plan, organize, and supervise the work of student assistants. Knowledge of current office practices, procedures, and equipment. Ability to coordinate diverse administrative functions. Ability to proofread materials for spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, usage, and consistency. Ability to consistently adhere to University policies, procedures, and regulations.

Job Duties
Job Duty
Oversee event logistics for the OUR, to include workshops, training, panels, summer programming and the summer research symposium. Responsibilities include managing event registration, space reservations, event promotion, vendor coordination, program information, among other event related duties.
Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 35 Job Duty
Provide administrative and logistical support for Discover USC, a campus wide celebration of research. This includes session organization, presenter and reviewer assignment, promotion to undergraduate students, as well as supporting overall event organization and evaluation.

Coordinate office communications and event promotion, which consists of website management, creation and distribution of the OUR newsletter, and social media management.

Manage the daily operations of the Office of Undergraduate Research, to include serving as the initial point of contact for students and visitors. Maintain OUR program databases and assist with processing grant applications for OUR programs. Train and supervise student assistants to support with database management and office reception.
