Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is seeking a Clinical Learning and Development (L&D) Specialist to support the growth and competency of our clinical staff. As part of the L&D team, the Clinical L&D Specialist plays a key role in enhancing organizational performance by developing and delivering trauma-informed learning pathways and other clinical training initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a licensed mental health professional with expertise in trauma-focused modalities, along with experience in training or teaching behavioral health professionals. Certification in at least one trauma-focused modality is required. This role is essential in equipping our staff with the skills and knowledge needed to provide high-quality, trauma-informed care to our clients, while contributing to the organization’s continuous quality improvement efforts.
Term-limited. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position that will end on/around 9/30/2026 (longer if the grant extends) in accordance with the CCBHC grant.
Schedule. This position will work Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, and is eligible for a hybrid model that allows for a mix of remote and in-office work, with an expectation of being in the office two days per week and working from home three days. This schedule may be adjusted based on training and department needs.
Essential Functions
- Serve as a subject matter expert on the L&D team related to trauma-informed care, evidence-based practice, and trauma-focused modalities of care.
- Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts across the organization to identify clear learning outcomes and design impactful learning content for varied learning styles.
- Effectively utilize various instructional design and delivery technologies to drive engagement in learning. (Articulate 360, Microsoft Office and Teams, Learning Management Systems, etc.)
- Develop and Implement learning materials in support of learning and development initiatives. (Curriculum Design Tools, E-Learning, Job Aids, Instructor-Led Training Content)
- Manage and disseminate critical learning information to staff via emails, L&D newsletter, and via communicating clearly on cross-collaborative learning projects.
- Support New Employee Orientation with coordination, facilitation and design improvements.
- Coordinate network-wide learning events by effectively scheduling, updating centralized calendars, and communicating event details with staff.
- Effectively act as a Learning Management System (LMS) administrator; able to support user management, training plan management, module creation, attendance tracking, evaluation and reporting. Identify opportunities to improve LMS utilization.
- Communicate and coordinate with external vendors to ensure successful execution of live events hosted by the center.
- Implement effective learning evaluation strategies to identify the impact of learning on desired outcomes and measured improvements over time.
- Facilitate learning as required by team and organizational priorities, supporting onboarding programs such as LMS Basics, Employee Health Record (EHR) Basics, and Clinical Documentation Best Practices and Procedures.
- Support in learning program assessment, strategy design and evaluation.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- A graduate degree in a mental health field (e.g. social work, clinical mental health counseling, psychology, etc.) required or doctorate degree in psychology, preferred.
- Professional licensure: Licensed Psychologist (PhD, PSYD), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) is required.
- Two (2) years of experience utilizing trauma informed clinical modalities of psychotherapy (EMDR, TF-CBT, Cognitive Processing Model, Prolonged Exposure, Brain Spotting, etc.) is required. Five (5) years preferred.
- Familiarity with adult learning modalities, learning management systems, and best practices in adult learning is required.
- Two (2) years of speaking, coordination and training experience is preferred, including experience teaching or training adults in a classroom or in a virtual environment, experience in adult learning design and use of technology to support delivery of all aspects of learning, and experience in curriculum development and facilitation of training of clinical mental health skills and theories.
- Knowledge of best practices in trauma informed care and trauma informed modalities of care.
- Knowledge of Learning Management Systems.
- Preferred: Knowledge of and experience with developing curricula in eLearning authoring software (such as Captivate, Camtasia, Wimba, iSpring, Storyline, LAMS, etc.)
Required Vaccination.

Salary for this role.
Salary is based on 1.0 FTE (full-time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE. Salary is also based on licensure and company equity.
- Licensed Therapist: $66,512.16 – $91,016.64 per year.
- Licensed Psychologist: $99,493.68 - $118,627.08 per year.
