Job Overview
The Assistant Merchant is a vital role that supports the assortment planning and product development activities of the Merchandising team to ensure seamless and timely speed-to-market to drive sales and profit. The Assistant Merchant is the perfect role for a merchant with 1-3 years of buying experience looking to take on more responsibility and expand their skill set in a fast-paced and creative environment.

Role Responsibilities
Manage Product Development & Design Request Process for Lolli & Pops Collection
- Manage product development tracker and collaborate with Manufacturers and internal Marketing, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to ensure timely in-store and online product launches
- Collaborate with Merchandise Managers to ensure retail positioning & margin requirements are met
- Manage development samples ensuring key accepted and failed criteria are noted and communicated
- Collect all product information necessary for new item set-up and packaging designs and create barcodes
- Lead package proofing process taking ownership for accuracy & FDA compliance of packaging details
- Lend expertise to support Bulk and Packaged Goods Merchants for select other development projects
- Identify risks and communicate appropriately to keep projects on track
- Maintain promotional calendar to help track and record promotional activity for private label programs
- Facilitate packaging reorders & management of packaging OH counts
- Analyze and report on performance to forecast for all product launches, recommend necessary adjustments to ensure success
Own Omni-Channel Master Assortment Management & Maintenance
- Build and maintain weekly file creation and conduct information audit for discrepancies and outliers
- Communicate exceptions to Merchant team and ensure they are actioned
- Capture assortment updates in master document and ensure accuracy
- Lead weekly Assortment Update Review meeting with key stakeholders
- Facilitate new item & new vendor setups across all systems and channels (ecommerce & retail)
- Ensure complete product data for omnichannel execution (e.g., nutritional facts, ingredients, weights & dimensions, etc.) in ecom upload form; partner on ensuring images are ready for ecom item activation.
- Maintain activations, de-activations from site and manage collections and tagging
Act as Merchandising Captain for Cross-category Processes & Projects
- Maintain Seasonal Tracker and ensure due dates are being met; recap status with teams; maintain Occasion attribute for all seasonal floor sets
- Maintain sample tracker & conduct weekly meetings on photography timelines with Marketing partners
- Complete all signage and label requests for new items & updates
- Submit all new Gift Box item lists for BOM sku creation & maintain sku updates
- Assist with proofing of Wholesale catalog
- Work with Learning & Development to communicate product information points in weekly store newsletter
- Collaborate with Operations to coordinate timing for retail price ticketing updates
- Coordinate with Marketing, Supply Chain, and Operations teams on bar codes, planograms, signage & label requests, scan sheets, and store communication for any Bulk and Dessert Case floor sets
- Coordinate with Operations team on fixture & signage needs for proper merchandising
Requirements & Competencies
- 1-3 years’ experience working in a merchandising office or product development function
- Self-Starter, fast learner, go-getter
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities
- Extremely organized and detail oriented (project management mindset/experience)
- Affinity for product, especially candy or consumer packaged goods
- Strong analytical skills
- Superior Excel skills
- Proficient in PowerPoint and Google Suite
- Familiarity with Shopify Plus or similar ecommerce platform
- Bachelor’s Degree desired

This is a full-time position offering competitive compensation commensurate with the level of responsibilities described above, including an annual bonus opportunity and attractive benefits package.
