About the position
EJI is seeking a passionate and experienced Social Media Assistant to join our dynamic team. The Social Media Assistant will be in charge of posting daily to EJI’s social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, X, Threads) and managing accounts for both EJI and the Legacy Sites. The Social Media Assistant will work with a small digital team and will be responsible for drafting copy and suggesting creative assets. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of experience managing social media accounts, is an exceptional writer, and is highly detail-oriented. Previous experience at nonprofit organizations is highly valued though not required.

New York City or Montgomery, Alabama
Responsibilities
- Post daily to EJI’s accounts on Facebook, Instagram, X, and Threads.
- Manage EJI’s daily email newsletter.
- Identify creative assets for EJI’s web articles and draft copy for social posts.
- Recommend and develop content (including short videos and infographics) that aligns with EJI’s brand and is optimized for social.
- Track and analyze social media metrics and report on performance, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Stay up-to-date with social media trends, tools, and best practices.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of experience managing social media platforms and creating content in a professional setting.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms and their respective audiences.
- Excellent presentation, communication, writing, and editing skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and organization.
Nice to have
- Basic graphic design skills for creating social media visuals.
- Basic video editing skills for creating short video content.
- Familiarity with content management systems, especially Wordpress.
- Basic knowledge of SEO best practices.
