About Fungal Diversity Survey (FUNDIS)
FUNDIS isa growing team of enthusiastic mycophiles, foragers, and conservation biologists who are
dedicated to documenting and protecting some of the world’s most important organisms. Fungal
Diversity Survey (FUNDIS) is the only nonprofit working for North American fungal biodiversity and
conservation.
FUNDIS Mission
Fungal Diversity Survey protects biodiversity through the conservation of fungi and their habitats by
increasing knowledge and public awareness of their diversity and distribution, equipping and engaging
community scientists, and partnering with land managers, conservationists, and scientists.
Position Title
FUNDIS Communications Director

Position Summary
This role reports directly to the Executive Director. As the FUNDIS Communications Director, you will
be responsible for creating, managing, and executing key messaging plans designed for nonprofit
development, fundraising, and engagement. Their duties include managing FUNDIS communications
(newsletter, social media, web presence) with a small team, planning virtual and in person fundraisers,
interacting with donors to encourage ongoing contributions and seeking out opportunities for financial
support through creative communications and clear branding. Additionally, you will cultivate
relationships with donors and grant funders. You will create appropriate targeted strategies that
support desired FUNDIS fundraising and communications objectives across a variety of
communications platforms.
Responsibilities
● Work closely with our Executive Director to develop and implement comprehensive
fundraising focused communications plans through cross-platform content strategies and
ensure content meets FUNDIS brand standards
● Execute fundraising plans through FUNDIS communications channels (socials, email, website,
our Annual Report, etc.)
● Ensure FUNDIS Communications goals are met
● Stay up -to -date with current events developments and generate new ideas to draw our
audience’s attention
● Work closely with the Executive Director
● Research and identify Find ideal public and private donors from public and private investors
and work with our team to carefully cultivate relationships with them
● Strengthen nonprofit reputation and brand identity through content and communications
● Manage communications outputs: newsletter, social media, web presence, and print (Annual
Report, etc.)
● Oversee and execute the FUNDIS website, and create coordinated content between the
website, social media, and partner organizations, including a press area on the website with
promotional media, graphics, documents, and video.
● Write and send our oversee and produce monthly newsletter.
● Ensure compliance with law (e.g. copyright and data protection).
● Provide editorial, creative and technical support to team members.
● Track content analytics to ascertain content engagement levels.
● Stay up -to -date with current events developments and generate new ideas to draw our
audience’s attention.
● Attend occasional program meetings to learn about FUNDIS programs and discoveries.
● Report to Executive Director
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
● Proven experience raising funds for nonprofits through online communications
● Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
● Ability to develop creative ideas
● Strong leadership, organizational, and time-management skills
● Attention to detail
● Basic technical knowledge of HTML and web publishing
● Basic knowledge of SEO and web traffic metrics
● Familiarity with social media
Status
This is an hourly part-time position that pays $25-30/hr depending on experience. Hours are flexible
and range from 10-15 hours/week. This position is open to U.S. residents only. Flexible schedules can be
highly tailored to an individual job seeker and organization needs. This position is remote.
