Carnation Farms is a community-based hub for regenerative food & agriculture that educates and empowers the work of culinary, food and farm professionals. We aspire to help create a thriving regional food system connecting farmers & culinary professionals around shared values of regenerative food, health & equity.
Position Overview:
Carnation Farms, a historically significant agricultural asset of the Snoqualmie Valley of King Country, WA, has embarked on an evolution of its 100-plus year role, purpose, and mission in the broader Pacific Northwest farm and food communities. The board, staff, and family members of this nonprofit organization have embraced a transformation, focusing on healthy, regenerative food systems as its purpose and regenerative practices throughout its farming, culinary, and educational activities.
The Marketing Manager will be instrumental in this evolution, and a core member of the leadership team. This role will be responsible for developing and executing a cohesive marketing strategy to enhance brand awareness, drive customer engagement, and support business growth. They will play a key role in driving sales and revenue growth while building brand equity through a focus on our four primary lines of business: 1) Culinary, 2)Farmstand, 3)Farm/Regenerative Agriculture, and 4) Events, Retreats, & Weddings.
As a department of one, the Marketing Manager will independently manage all aspects of marketing, from strategy to execution. Strong candidates will bring common sense, good humor, high accountability with a results focus, creativity, and a “roll up your sleeves” attitude. Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning:
- Develop and implement comprehensive marketing plans aligned with business objectives.
- Conduct market research to identify target audiences, market trends, and competitive insights.
- Set marketing goals, budgets, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track success.
Business Development:
- Develop and lead strategies to increase awareness and sales at the Farmstand through various channels, including online and offline marketing approaches.
- Collaborate with department managers to promote farm operations, including direct-to-consumer sales, wholesale, on-site retail, and restaurant partnerships.
- Support and promote engagement in the farm’s events, retreats, and weddings (ERW) programs to promote attendance at on site culinary and shopping events.
Communications & Branding:
- Manage a cohesive marketing plan that effectively communicates with both internal and external audiences.
- Serve as a brand ambassador, ensuring consistent brand messaging and presence in the local community and regional food system.
- Create compelling messaging to engage customers and stakeholders.
- Own and produce the farm’s monthly newsletter, including layout design, copywriting, image curation, delivery, and reporting.
- Maintain and update a marketing calendar to coordinate events, campaigns, and content releases.
Digital & Social Media:
- Manage all aspects of the farm’s social media presence (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn), including content planning, creation, posting, and performance tracking.
- Oversee website updates and content management to ensure a strong online presence (technical support not required).
- Develop and execute strategies to drive customer acquisition and retention through digital channels.
Campaign Management:
- Plan, develop, and execute marketing campaigns across digital, social media, print, and email channels.
- Track and analyze campaign performance, optimizing strategies based on data insights.
- Ensure marketing efforts align with revenue and margin goals.
Budget & Performance Management:
- Allocate marketing resources effectively across various initiatives.
- Monitor spending and ensure adherence to budget constraints.
- Analyze performance metrics to refine strategies and improve outcomes.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in marketing and social media-focused roles, preferably in the agriculture, food, or sustainability industries.
- Minimum of 3 years in a growth strategy focused role for a brick and mortar business in the specialty food retail, food brand, or hospitality space.
- Strong writing and content creation skills with a keen eye for design and branding.
- Proficiency in social media management, email marketing platforms, and website content management, as well as SEO.
- Ability to run effective ad campaigns and measure ROI.
- Proven graphic design experience.
- Ability to develop and execute marketing strategies independently.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret marketing data and trends.
- Flexible, adaptable, entrepreneurial mindset.
- Proven ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously and successfully complete task on time.
- Strong interest in and commitment to the importance of regenerative and organic practices.
- A commitment to and ideas for equity and inclusion as core principles that need to be embedded.
- Public Affairs/Relations experience
- Local and regional knowledge and relationships with the culinary agricultural realms
