The Internal Communications Manager's role is pivotal in developing and executing communication strategies for companywide and corporate initiatives. Working alongside the Vice President and Director of Internal Communications, this position entails significant collaboration to tailor and deliver effective messages to Team Members. Ideal candidates bring a minimum of four years of experience from either agency or in-house roles, showcasing their ability to juggle multiple projects and stakeholders in a dynamic environment.
We seek a creative storyteller with a keen eye for detail and a passion for creating compelling narratives through various mediums, including print, digital and visual design. In this role, the Internal Communications Manager will lead a team of Internal Communications Specialists, overseeing all copywriting, copyediting and visual design while ensuring projects are completed on time and meets the expectations of all stakeholders. This role will also be responsible for internal communications logistics, including stakeholder approvals, publishing digital content, preparing email distributions, and overseeing the management of email distribution lists.
The Internal Communications Manager will also support the Director and Vice President on integrated campaign initiatives, including writing, copyediting, graphic design, event management, and presentations. They will collaborate closely with the Director to ensure that all internal communications are strategically unified in print and digital, maximizing the effectiveness of all internal communications. The role’s primary focus will be creating content that informs, engages, and motivates our Team Members, providing them with the information they need to thrive in their roles.

Responsibilities
This role reports to the Director of Internal Communications and manages the content, processes, and deadlines of all communication campaigns.
Oversees a team that develops written and visual content that informs, engages and inspires our Team Members, ensuring they have the information they need to be successful in their roles.
Acts as a stakeholder, sharing project updates and working through the approval process.
Ensures the creation of graphics aligns with brand standards and drives the visual impact of internal communications.
Collaborates with the Director of Internal Communications to ensure communications campaigns are strategically integrated between print and digital, including Empire Wire, our company intranet, and Empire Post, our companywide newsletter.
Manages internal distribution lists and the deployment of communications across our internal communications channels.
Ensures all work is reviewed for grammatical and technical accuracy before distribution, and all stakeholders have approved.
Establish and maintain best practices to ensure optimum productivity, identifying any opportunities to streamline workload or create efficiencies.
Continually learns and adopts best practices, staying abreast of current communications techniques and tools.
Performance coaching and mentoring of Internal Communications Specialists.
Onboard and train new Team Members and support ongoing training opportunities for the team.
Qualifications
4+ years of experience in internal communications, PR, marketing or related fields.
BA or BS Degree or equivalent work experience.
Proven track record of leading multiple projects and working in a deadline-driven environment.
Outstanding written, verbal and visual communication skills, including editing, copywriting and visual design.
Experience with content planning and creation.
Experience with the Microsoft suite of products (including Outlook, OneDrive, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and the Adobe suite of products (such as InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, etc.).
Knowledge of best practices for displaying content optimized for web and mobile views.
Can handle complex and highly confidential projects.
Proven track record of meeting deadlines, working under pressure and time constraints.
Can independently organize projects and files and prioritize work.
Ability to gather and analyze metrics to present recommendations.
Can independently learn new software programs and use new hardware.
Good interpersonal skills in working with others; must be able to lead a team.
Ability to accept feedback and willingness to implement changes as requested.
Will solve problems and make decisions with the best interest of the company and its Team Members in mind.
