The
NC Department of State Treasurer is looking for a
Communications and Digital Marketing Specialist. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State benefits, including health insurance, paid vacation, paid sick time, paid holidays and retirement. This position also offers opportunity for career growth.
About Us
The
Office of the State Treasurer Communications Team understands and supports the mission of the Department of State Treasurer and takes complex issues and makes them understandable and relatable to the public. The position will require the person to be able to balance multiple issues and responsibilities at once, and at times, under a tight deadline.
The
Communications and Digital Marketing Specialist will concentrate on social media and newsletter projects for the department. This would include keeping the public and stakeholders up to date on the intricate work within the divisions. This employee would be familiar with multiple social media platforms and what drives audience engagement.
Job Duties
- Oversee all social media accounts, which includes creating compelling content, analyzing metrics to assess effectiveness and adjusting strategy accordingly.
- Use a variety of technical skills to complete graphics and video productions.
- Serve on the team creating newsletters/e-communications, which includes writing and editing for both internal and external products.
- Shoot and edit video as needed (knowledge of Adobe Premiere or ability and desire to learn is necessary).
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities / Competencies
Qualified applicants must possess, and application must clearly reflect work experience that demonstrates the following:
- Knowledge of journalistic, communication, and/or social media principles and practices.
- Knowledge of writing and editing written communication.
- Knowledge of social media and how it is used as a marketing/informational tool.
- Experience with principles of graphic design.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Proven ability to work on multiple projects and prioritize to meet deadlines.
- Proven ability to communicate with media while keeping the voice of the department.
- Demonstrated ability in video production and editing.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, public affairs, journalism, English, or related field from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
