Only In Your State is one of the 10 most-viewed websites on Facebook and one of the 10 largest Travel sites on the internet (according to Comscore). We currently have roughly 14 million social media followers, as well as 2 million passionate newsletter subscribers.
We are seeking a creative and analytical Associate Director of Social Media for Only In Your State who will play a pivotal role in shaping our social-first content strategy and building our nationwide network of social contributors.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including editorial, audience development, and sales and marketing to maximize the brand's impact and drive revenue from our social media channels. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of the social media landscape, digital publishing, and the domestic travel space.
You’ll Report To: Sr. Brand Director, Only In Your State
A typical day as Associate Director of Social Media might include:
- Leading the social team to create short/mid/long-term growth strategies for all social platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, and more
- Fostering accessibility, inclusivity and representation on social media channels to align with Only In Your State’s pillars of diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Ideating, creating, and posting engaging social media content across channels (Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, etc.)
- Collaborating with editorial to develop 360-degree, multiplatform programming that will engage our audience no matter where they encounter our brand.
- Partnering with the commerce team to promote affiliate content and to create social-first commerce strategies
- Co-owning the Only In Your State Explorers program, our nationwide network of local travel creators, including identifying and recruiting top-tier talent for the network and setting and upholding brand standards for creator-led videos
- Serving as a consumer-facing brand representative in a variety of tactics, including participating in creating direct-to-camera social video, as well as VO scripting and recording
- Providing best practice insights for whole edit team based on industry research
- Partnering with the design team to create engaging branding and promotion for all social channels
- Working with marketing and advertising teams to develop branded content for Only In Your State advertisers
- Providing weekly and monthly social analytics reporting, both raw data (traffic/reach/engagement/growth) and actionable insights for the editorial team and key stakeholders
- Proactively implementing new tactics if key social referral traffic is lagging to meet daily and monthly traffic goals across social channels
- Owning social media posting tools, including pitching for new tools when needed and ensuring existing tools are driving highly positive ROI
- Providing guidance, mentorship, and constructive performance feedback to social team members to drive individual and team success
- Assessing and implementing paid media strategies to meet KPIs
You’ll be successful if you understand how to balance traffic and engagement goals with a strong sense of brand, creating a holistic strategy that lifts both Only In Your State and its audience. We are looking for someone who can blend data-driven insights with creative thinking, who has amazing communication skills and a sense of what’s next in the world of social.
Requirements
What you have:
- 7+ years of experience at a digital media publisher
- Experience managing teams of social media experts
- A passion for travel and local discovery
- Experience ideating and creating social content for brand partners
- Expertise in social analytics and Google Analytics: you know how to use them, how to create targeting, how to analyze their data and make decisions based on that data
- Interest in learning paid marketing tools
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Not afraid to wear multiple hats - no job being too small or too large.

Compensation
The starting base pay range for this role is $90,000. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, benefits, and other perks.
