Quatrro Business Support Services is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer/Controller for our not-for-profit division. This role will provide strategic financial oversight and guidance to multiple high-profile nonprofit clients, ensuring their long-term success and compliance with relevant regulations. The CFO/Controller will manage the full-cycle accounting functions for each client, including financial statement preparation, cash management, grant management, budgeting, and audit preparation support. This person will also serve as a brand ambassador and thought leader of Quatrro, and will help initiate, develop, and maintain client relationships.
This is a fully remote position, with occasional travel to client sites required.
Responsibilities:
Direct Client Services (65%)
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned nonprofit clients, offering expert financial advice and guidance to support their organizational objectives
- Conduct comprehensive financial assessments for each client, analyzing budgets, cash flow, grant management, and financial statements to identify areas for improvement and efficiency
- Collaborate with clients to develop comprehensive budgets and financial forecasts aligned with their long-term goals and objectives
- Oversee and support the preparation and delivery of accurate, timely financial reports and presentations to key stakeholders, including finance committees and boards of directors
- Provide insights and recommendations based on key financial metrics, industry trends, and nonprofit best practices
- Ensure client compliance with all relevant financial regulations, reporting requirements, and funding sources (e.g. federal, state, and local government grants)
- Assess and mitigate financial risks for clients by implementing effective strategies to safeguard their financial assets and investments
- Evaluate and streamline financial processes and procedures for clients, leveraging technology and best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
- Review and recommend cost-saving measures and revenue-generation strategies, including but not limited to recommending funding opportunities, such as federal, state, and local government grants
- Serve as a subject matter expert and advisor on all client-related accounting and financial matters, including but not limited to the Code of Federal Regulations, indirect cost rates, allocation methodologies, and accounting standard updates (ASUs)
- Foster strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders at each client organization, serving as a trusted advisor and advocate
- Address client concerns and ensure timely resolution of issues
Supervisory Responsibilities (25%)
- Oversee team deliverables and execution of contractual deliverables
- Manage multiple direct reports and provide mentoring, training, and professional development
- Review team performance, provide constructive feedback, and approveindividual development plans
Other Duties and Responsibilities (10%)
- Provide thought leadership through presentations on technical and management issues to organizations and prospective clients
- Support the review and management of contract scope, pricing, and staffing to ensure the financial profitability of assigned engagement(s)
- Engage and participate in the client's community and mission through various means, such as volunteer opportunities
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business with an accounting/finance focus (Master's Degree preferred)
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
- 10+ years of experience in the nonprofit industry
- 10+ years of senior accounting experience (Director of Finance/Controller/CFO/Chief Accounting Officer)
- Versed in federal and state grant administration/management (State of Illinois/GATA preferred)
- Advanced knowledge of industry-specific accounting software and advanced Excel skills
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks and excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong business acumen and ability to communicate effectively with key stakeholders and C-level executives
- Adept in people management and leading high-performance teams
- Proficient in creating and implementing processes and efficiencies
- Experience in consulting and/or business process outsourcing (BPO) preferred
