Program Manager
This is a new role in the Vanderbilt Center for Computational Systems Biology that will be a key member of the team assisting the Director. This position will work closely with the Director to ensure smooth operations of the Center.

Statement
Vanderbilt Center for Computational Systems Biology (CCSB) is a transitional center between Vanderbilt University Basic Sciences, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and the Vanderbilt College of Connected Computing that aims to leverage team science and computational biology to turn biomolecular data into actionable insights.
Philosophy
The CCSB seeks to reinvent the concept of “team science” by creating a truly collaborative environment for computational scientists, cell biologists, and tissue engineers to work together seamlessly. Our goal is to instill quantitative and interdisciplinary thinking into the next generation of young scientists, where computational concepts are interwoven into biomedical research.
Mission statement
At CCSB, we aim to understand complex biological systems, defined as systems of simultaneously changing and interacting parts, with the ability to reverse-engineer these systems synthetically. We seek to investigate how system-level states become disrupted in disease, to identify causative factors that disrupt or alter disease-relevant behaviors.
Duties And Responsibilities
Assist Pl and personnel in implementation of research programs and collaborations - 100% effort.
- Coordinate, manage, and run scientific meetings between investigators (PI, graduate students, postdocs, staff) as it relates to scientific research.
- In these meetings, highlight and summarize ideas, by which critical thinking skills will be applied to evaluate the ideas and turn them into grant applications.
- Put together grant applications – most of them collaborative. Includes generation and collection of information/documents from various investigators.
- Scientific writing – drafting and editing manuscripts and grant applications.
- Production of illustrations for research proposals and manuscripts
- Manage media content, such as website, social media, and newsletter for the center.
- Manage metrics for the center such as publications, grants, tech transfers resulting from center PIs.
- Facilitate collaborator interactions and open communication between department and other centers, managing exchange of resources.
- Manage the financial aspect of grants and funds related to the center.
Supervisory Relationships:
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
Education and Certifications:
- PhD required
- Strong scientific writing skills.
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong oral communication skills.
