The Metro Atlanta Chamber’s (MAC) Communications team is looking for an organized, energetic intern who loves the written word, has an eye for detail and wants to help tell metro Atlanta’s story on a global scale. The Communications intern will support MAC’s work positioning metro Atlanta as a top-tier global region. They will also support the organization’s marketing team with copywriting needs.
When you join MAC, you’ll be a key member of the team responsible for promoting the 29-county region and its unique offerings to policymakers, executives, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders who are critical to Atlanta's position today and into the future. Interns are welcome to participate in MAC’s Interns after 5 programming alongside interns from partner organizations and companies in the region.

We want the right candidate for the role. Ideally, we would like the Communications Intern to start full- or part-time in January, but understand many students are looking for a traditional summer internship – so we can be flexible. Interns will work a minimum of 20 hours per week, to be determined by the supervisor and candidate.
Responsibilities To Include But Not Limited To
- News monitoring, including compiling coverage and sharing summaries
- Monitoring specific topics and creating reports
- News gathering, including producing a weekly internal newsletter
- Public relations support and media relations, including drafting press releases and newsroom posts, composing letters, notes and recaps
- Digital media support, including drafting captions for social media and updating website copy
- Contributing to C-level executive briefing documents
- Editing internal documents and newsletters for other MAC teams
- A self-directed longer-term intern project
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or status as a rising senior in a journalism, public relations, or communications program
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of or experience with AP style, with ability to write in different styles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Capable of researching, writing, interviewing and developing written content that is authentic, creative, and high-quality
- Professional and positive attitude, attention to detail and a team player
- Project and time-management skills
