Wilmington College is seeking applications for the position of Office Support Assistant in our Diversity & Inclusion Office. This is a part time (20 hours per week), 10-month support staff position on our main campus in Wilmington, Ohio.
The office support assistant provides assistance to the Sr. Director of Diversity and Inclusion in coordinating aspects of office projects and initiatives. These fall into the areas of Office Operations, Campus Event Programming, Education and Awareness.
Duties And Responsibilities
Office Operations
- Serve as a liaison for the Office of D&I.
- Create content for D&I webpages, social media accounts.
- Collaborate on projects and events as needed.
- Research & Identify resources and support for under-represented groups including but not limited to LGBTQIA+, African American, Asian, Hispanic, Indigenous and International community members.
- Assist with student worker and intern communication.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of D&I
Education and Awareness
- Create social media content regarding campus diversity events.
- Participate in various diversity-centered presentations and other informational sessions.
- Coordinate with Office of D&I to develop a communications strategy to raise awareness and encourage participation and engagement in diverse activities.
- Update departmental newsletter.
- Monitor and assess research trends applicable to diversity and inclusion and staff development.
Campus Programming
- Collaborate with the WC diverse student organizations.
- Create, implement programs and events for under-represented groups including but not limited to LGBTQIA+, African American, Asian, Hispanic, Indigenous and International community members.
- Maintain departmental calendar of diversity events
- Event planning, coordination, and assessment.
- History and Awareness Months Initiatives (Ex: Latinx History Month, Trans Awareness Week, etc.)
Performance Standards

- Performs assigned responsibilities in an accurate, timely and effective manner with minimal supervision and meets established timelines for special assignments.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Experience working with a diverse community of individuals from various backgrounds.
- Comfortable with discussing LGBTQ+ topics and usage of appropriate terminology.
- Display an understanding of factors which impact under-represented communities.
- Proficient in producing content for social media.
- Comfortable with public speaking.
- Demonstrated experience using MS Office Suite.
