COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR
Reports to: Sr. Communications and Marketing Manager
Status: Regular, Full-time, Non-exempt
Location: Anchorage, AK
JOB SUMMARY: The Communications Coordinator coordinates and implements communication activities under the direction of the Sr. Communications and Marketing Manager.
Primary Responsibilities

- Assist with drafting internal weekly memos to employees.
- Assist Communications team with executing on Aleut communication plans, through the following channels:
- Newsletter
- Social Media
- Assist with Shareholder surveys and communications.
- Develop graphics for use on social media, newsletters, eblast and website.
- Work with Comms Team to manage Social Media content calendar.
- Post on various social channels and monitor social media activity, responding and engaging where necessary.
- Monitor message received via social channels and responding as necessary.
- Perform simple website updates or work with our website partner for more complex changes.
- Schedule meetings, participate and take notes during agency meetings.
- Meet with Comms Team weekly and present campaign materials.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Social Media Management
- Manage content creation and scheduling of Aleut social media.
- Supporting Asana social media calendar, proactively adding and scheduling topics months in advance, to include weekly reviews with VPCM, scheduling and/or rescheduling of posts, ensuring calendar is accurate and current, and tagging team members in comments if actions are required.
- Scheduling posts on appropriate social media platforms.
- Working with Comms Team and Shareholder Relations team on new topic ideas and posts.
- Develop creative assets for social media and newsletter as needed.
- Provide Monthly reporting on social activity and engagement.
- Monitor comments and messages on Platform and respond to comments/questions timely. Forward to appropriate department as necessary.
- Manage Recruitment or Awareness campaigns on Facebook.
- Research best social media management tools and platforms.
Project Management
- Assist with Quarterly Newsletter to include:
- Schedules and contributor outreach.
- Comments and updates.
- Review layout and feedback.
- Prepare materials to send to marketing agency.
- Contribute and add current topics without prompting.
- Create QR codes for appropriate articles.
- Create graphic elements as needed or communicate to marketing agency.
- Review performance of each newsletter, develop metrics and analytics.
- What’s working, what’s not working
- Open Rate, Click Rate, What are SH reading
- Assist with developing communication materials and collateral for village travel.
- Assist with logistics and planning in preparation for village travel.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet targeted deadlines.
- Ability to provide feedback to marketing agencies in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to take constructive feedback and apply it to future performance.
- Excellent customer service skills with both internal and external customers.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of the different social media platforms and how to tailor messaging appropriate for each, such as FB, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
- Organized with keen attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Skill in proofreading to ensure media communications clear, concise with no typos, misspellings or content errors.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing or related field. OR
- Highschool Diploma or equivalent. AND Two (2) years of direct experience in communications, public relations or marketing OR in lieu of direct experience, candidate can have three (3) years’ experience in an administrative support position within an office setting.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
