The Knott Scholarship Funds award scholarships to high achieving Catholic students to attend Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Baltimore in order for them to develop into leaders in their schools, community, and the Catholic Church.
This part-time, primarily remote, Communication and Events Manager serves as the Scholarship Fund’s primary contact for communication about the scholarships and their recipients, as well as the planning, communication, and executing of events sponsored by the Knott Scholarship Funds. The position reports to the Executive Director. Some weekend and evening work is required, with corresponding flexibility during the work week.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Develop, execute, and improve on a strategic communications plan that is updated annually and includes Scholarship awarding, as well as outreach with current and alumni scholars.
• Manage and provide content/contribute to the Knott Scholarship Website and social media accounts.
• Execute communications pieces around the Knott Scholarships. This includes, but is not limited to: ad placement, flyer development and distribution, parish bulletin placement, and social media as the competition happens. Develop communication pieces for scholars once awards occur.
• Overall responsibility for bi-annual communication pieces (Newsletter). Develop or solicit content.
• Lead on the planning, execution and communication of annual Scholar events.
• Work with the Executive Team on a strategic plan to ensure the development of a vibrant Scholar community.
• Serve as the primary liaison for Alumni Scholars.
• Help to maintain the Scholar database.
Other Duties:
· Represent the Funds at relevant meetings and interactions with Scholars.
· Develop an annual budget for communications related expenses.
· Other duties on request.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Must be a self-starter and proactive action taker.
• Must be willing to help out as needed in a small organization.
• Demonstrated proficiency in concise written communication, along with effective oral communication and presentation skills.
• Solid organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
· Strong information technology skills, including experience with Microsoft Office 365 software and WordPress, as well as knowledge of social media. CANVA and Constant Contact experience a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism.
• Enthusiastic and decisive, with poise, tact, and a sense of humor.
• Must possess the highest levels of personal and professional integrity and confidentiality.
· Knowledge of the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Experience with and passion for working in support of Catholic education.
• Bachelor’s Degree.
Pay and Benefits:
The median annual pay range for this position is $33,000-35,000 based on 1,000 hours worked annually (approximately 20 hours per week). This position comes with paid vacation and 403(B) retirement matching.
