IN OFFICE REQUIREMENT 3 DAYS A WEEK MONDAY-WEDNEESDAY -
The Managing Editor supervises outside vendors and is responsible for project managing, designing, writing, editing and production of products including and without limitation news, print, online and software.
Responsibilities
- Produces and manages CalChamber HRCalifornia Extra newsletter. Craft assignment letters; edit and develop content with Subject Matter Experts; and occasionally write content. Implement newsletters into HubSpot delivery system.
- Acquires new content as needed, including contracts with outside writers and vendors.
- Updates content related to CalChamber employment law books, websites and software.
- Oversees production and editorial calendars.
- Edits slides and updates supporting materials for webinars and seminars as necessary.
- Edits, designs and posts employment law white papers.
- Occasionally edits HR Watchdog blog posts and other legal team content as necessary.
- Works with Subject Matter Experts to ensure content accuracy.
- Supports all team efforts with ideas and recommendations regarding products.
- Keeps projects on schedule.
- Leads meetings as necessary.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism or related field and 5+ years of related experience in publishing environment.
- Obsessive attention to detail, accuracy, and expert level project management skills.
- Excellent writing and editing skills.
- Experience developing large, complex books and/or content-based Websites.
- Able to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Experience with FrameMaker, Sitecore CMS, HTML, InDesign, Photoshop and Microsoft Office applications (including Word and Power Point), and Adobe Acrobat.
- Knowledge of email management (HubSpot) and blogging tools (Wordpress).
- Knowledgeable of publishing trends and techniques.
- Computer literate with typing skills.
- Proven ability to work well under deadlines.
Knowledge of California laws and regulations as well as regulator organizations is helpful.
