EEI is excited to announce an excellent opportunity for the position of Manager of National Security Policy. This role involves providing expertise on a broad range of national security issues and overseeing member-focused workstreams. Additionally, the manager will lead the programmatic activities of the Electricity Subsector Coordinating Council (ESCC).
Job Duties And Responsibilities
Provide Expertise and Guidance - Lead and support member-centric workstreams to advance national security issues, including both EEI and ESCC priorities. This includes:
- Leading and implementing the ESCC Strategic Priorities and Action Plan.
- Leading EEI’s Securing the Grid of the Future workstreams.
- Supporting supply chain workstreams.
- Supporting cyber and physical security workstreams.
- Supporting emergency response efforts.
- Addressing other national security issues as needed.
Manage and Facilitate ESCC Activities
- Manage the ESCC calendar and Secretariat inbox.
- Convene and lead discussions with the ESCC Secretariat, ESCC members, government partners, and other stakeholders to drive consensus on programmatic decisions.
- Develop effective agendas and briefing materials.
- Navigate complex problems related to security clearances and classified briefings.
- Provide regular ESCC updates to internal and external stakeholders.
- Offer additional support and stakeholder outreach as needed.
Develop and Support Written Materials
- Prepare written materials on national security issues, including CEO-level briefing materials, responses to federal requests for comment, and issue-specific white papers.
Representation and Advocacy
- Represent EEI and the ESCC Secretariat in advocacy and educational settings, including meetings with internal and external stakeholders and public speaking engagements.
Develop and Maintain Collateral Materials - Develop, support, and maintain collateral materials, including distribution lists and protocols. This includes:
- The public-facing ESCC brochure and website.
- The ESCC playbook.
- The SEWG Monthly Newsletter.
- Other materials as needed.
Required Experience
- B.A. or B.S. degree is required.
- Basic understanding of the electric industry and familiarity with partnerships between the private sector and the U.S. federal government are essential.
- Proficiency in member management, project management, and conflict resolution.
- Strong communication skills and a team-player mentality.
- Excellent organizational abilities.
- At least 4 years of progressively complex professional experience is required. Experience in national security, the energy sector, and/or the U.S. federal government is preferred.
- The ideal candidate is adaptable, resourceful, curious, and self-motivated.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is set at $75,000 - $100,000 annually. Starting annual salary will be determined on individual qualifications. EEI also offers an annual performance incentive which is prorated for mid-year start dates. This incentive is between 5%-10% of annual base salary, based on performance.

Office Protocol
This is a hybrid position which requires the incumbent to reside in the District of Columbia metropolitan area and come into the office a minimum of three days each week with two of the mandatory days being Tuesday and Wednesday.
