Job Description
Sonoma County Tourism (SCT) is seeking a Community Engagement Coordinator working in the critical community engagement function of Sonoma County Tourism (SCT). The coordinator position provides administrative support and is specifically responsible for supporting company-centric communications; sustainability activities; and select community outreach initiatives. The position is service driven and embodies a team centric approach. The coordinator must demonstrate the ability to be flexible and adaptable, while also working with a high level of accuracy.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Corporate Communications
- Support the VP, Community Engagement and Senior Director, Communications in creation of stakeholder communications, including but not limited to newsletter communications and PowerPoint presentations;
- Coordinate communications including, e-newsletter communications and occasionally interfacing with partners;
- Monitor Community Engagement general email inbox and correspond as appropriate;
- Work in conjunction with the Marketing Team to ensure community and industry webpages are updated as appropriate; and
- Edit other company documents, as needed.
Community Engagement
- Monitor local news, City Council and County, Sonoma County Board of Supervisors and important community meetings for tourism-related content;
- Assist with creation and execution of National Travel and Tourism Week initiatives, events and associated messaging;
- Assist with and attend Community Engagement committee meetings. Take meeting notes as needed;
- Support engagement with partners of organization’s sustainability initiatives; and
- Assist with other community engagement programming, as needed.
Administrative Support
- Coordinates and supports meetings with stakeholders as directed.
- Scribes notes during meetings and provides teams with reminders of action items.
- Tracks Community Engagement department metrics/KPIs.
- Liaise with other departments as appropriate.
- Answer emails, phone calls in a timely and professional manner.
- General office assistance (photocopying, scanning, mailings, research, etc.).
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Required Education And/or Experience
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Public Policy, Public Administration, or related field. Work experience in lieu of education will be considered.
- 1-3 years administrative experience.
- Experience in tourism or hospitality industry preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Proficient with computers and software programs including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office 365, Constant Contact or other email database system and design programs, such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to prioritize projects while being flexible, pivot as priorities shift, and reliable in managing priorities as directed.
- Possess strong oral and written communication skills.
- Skilled and prioritizes a high level customer service.
- Experience working with a CRM database desirable.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. Frequently sits, stands, and walks. Occasionally twists/turns, bends, kneels, and reaches overhead. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Hybrid office position (combination of in-office and work from home) in a professional and creative office environment.
- Must have valid driver’s license and provide own transportation.
