A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PART TIME HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT
Perform a variety of complex administrative and office functions that require a thorough knowledge of the terminology, procedures and practices for Human Resources, with a significant degree of independence and accountability for results. Receive and screen visitors and/or telephone calls, provide general and specialized information regarding departmental functions that may require the use of judgment, tact and sensitivity and the interrelation of policies, rules and procedures; skillfully handle complaints and inquiries; research and respond to requests or refer requests to other staff when warranted.
Additional Duties
- Research and compile content for weekly employee newsletter.
- Compile and maintain Excel spreadsheets.
- Review and update content on the dedicated Benefits page on the City's SharePoint site and benefits enrollment platform(s).
- Research, understand, and present the latest health benefit solution ideas for employers.
- Conduct benefit audits to ensure data accuracy, plan compliance, and participant education.
- Help coordinate miscellaneous program events/activities such as walking challenges, physical fitness classes, etc..
- Participate in employee benefits training sessions and activities.
- Assist with salary survey requests from external entities.
- Assist with logistics for trainings and meetings.
- Assist HR Team with Staff events.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required; Associate's degree or higher preferred.
- Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Office required.
- Experience with PC computers required.
- Able to sit, stand, climb stairs and walk for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift and move at least 10 pounds.
- Intermediate level of experience utilizing Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.)
