The position serves as a visionary communicator and proven marketer in both traditional and digital forms. Reporting to the Arts and Culture Programs Manager, this role is suited for a highly motivated, innovative, and engaging marketer who understands how the arts impact communities.
The Museum Communication Coordinator is accountable for all aspects of the organization's communications, social media, and marketing tactics which support all aspects of the organization. Success in this role requires creating and implementing new marketing and communications initiatives while building and maintaining relationships with the media, press and internal departments.
The ideal candidate will act as the voice of the museum. It is imperative that they are a proficient storyteller that understands and can implement the visual and verbal voice needed across traditional and contemporary platforms. They must be able to receive feedback and work collaboratively inside and outside the museum.The following illustrative responsibilities are not intended to describe every function that may be required by the position. Working across the museum, they ideate, develop, produce, and implement both static and dynamic content for social media, web, e-mail, public relations, and executive communications. They collaborate closely with artists, educators and staff to produce digital content that extends the reach of the museum's exhibitions, programs, special events and outreach.
- Leads all marketing and communication efforts that expands the museum's profile, brand, and presence in the community.
- Maintains relationship with Communications and Marketing team at the City of Coral Springs.
- Maintains and evolves the Museum's Website including updates for City of Coral Springs landing page.
- Supports the Curatorial, Membership, Grants, Facilities, and all departments in all aspects of marketing to drive revenue growth and brand expansion of the Museum.
- Utilizes a variety of equipment such as digital cameras, lighting and audio for content creation, documentation, and management or the willingness to learn and implement the use of the needed equipment.
- Represents the museum in community events, in coordination with Education and Public Programs Manager.
- Assists Education and Public Programs Coordinator with Guild membership and programs.
- Creates and edits all design/graphics/video for the Museum collateral, digital, social media, presentations, upcoming exhibitions.
- Creates and distributes email blasts and Newsletter with the assistance of the Museum Director.
- Edits and proofreads creative copy for all advertising, call-to-artists, eblasts, upcoming exhibits, and social media.
- Coordinates printing of Museum collateral and assists with its distribution in the community.
- Monitors, creates and reviews social media postings.
- Manages and creates digital marketing/SEO plan to drive engagement, membership, and revenue.
- Develops annual marketing and communications goals and objectives aligned with the Strategic Plan and ensures achievement of near-term goals and objectives as well as progress toward longer-term strategic objectives.
- Provides frontline customer support as needed.
- Attends all museum related events and meetings.
- Sustains a friendly, positive rapport with other staff members.
- Flexible schedule required to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in Arts, Marketing, Digital/Social Media, Communications, Journalism, Advertising, Museum Management, Business or a related field. One (1) to Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in the arts or similar with a strong understanding or appreciation of the visual arts. An equivalent combination of education, training, and related experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
Must have excellent customer service orientation and strong writing, editing skills. Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat, Outlook and PowerPoint.Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe work place practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations, and traffic signals when driving.
