POSITION SUMMARY:
The Marketing & Business Development Manager is responsible for developing, coordinating, and facilitating an effective marketing and business development program for the firm’s attorneys.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist Management and Marketing Committees in developing a firm brand, and based on that, develop a written firm marketing plan and objectives.
- Manage, coordinate, and assist with submission of attorney nominations and applications for state and national professional awards, ratings, and recognitions.
- Regularly update attorney profiles on website.
- Regularly seek out and populate firm information for website and other approved social and business media, including:
- attorney publications and presentations
- news events, such as recent accomplishments in client matters (e.g., trial victories, significant appellate decisions) or profession (e.g., peer recognition ratings or awards)
- community service contributions
- Prepare custom submissions (e.g., brochures, portfolios) for individual attorneys or practice groups to present for new client consideration, including tailored resumes and other material relevant to client’s business.
- Schedule and facilitate with attorneys periodic continuing legal education (CLE) events (both live and webinar) for existing and potential clients, including preparation of CLE materials, invitations, and presentations.
- Prepare or coordinate firm advertisements, including graphics and content.
- Develop advertisement and attorney interview strategy with local media to optimize firm recognition and exposure.
- Prepare firm newsletter (ke kumu).
- Assist attorneys in contributing to state and national CLE programs, such as assistance in preparing CLE materials, professional biographies, and mailing lists.
- Coordinate, prepare, and manage holiday cards to firm clients and friends, as well as other firm external communications as needed.
- Coordinate, manage, and assist with client appreciation events and other marketing social events as requested.
- Assist the Recruiting Committee with brochures, written content, and events as requested.
- Coordinate, oversee, and manage the selection, purchase, and distribution of firm-branded marketing products.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Proficient in various applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite (primarily InDesign and Photoshop), website and social media applications, required. Knowledge of digital publishing platforms and other marketing software or applications strongly desired.
- Familiarity with and ability to use video conferencing software such as Webex, Zoom, and Teams.
- Excellent writing skills required.
- Demonstrated and strong oral skills, including strong public speaking/presentation skills.
EXPERIENCE:
- At least two years of professional marketing experience required.
- Website management or design experience required.
- Legal industry and/or professional services marketing experience strongly desired.
- Demonstrated project management skills.

EDUCATION:
- High school diploma required.
- Bachelor’s degree required. Preference for a degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to see 20/40 vision (corrective lenses acceptable) to read documents, view computer monitor, etc.
- Frequent sitting, standing and walking required in performing the essential functions of the job.
- Frequent wrist and finger movement.
- Infrequent lifting of items up to 50 lbs. (may use hand truck).
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Full-time. General work schedule Monday through Friday. Position will require duties to be performed after business hours and on weekends, depending on the various activities/events.
