Function:
Manage BestPrep’s two speaker programs: Classroom Plus and Financial Matters. This includes working with educators and volunteers to connect them, working with committees to ensure presentations are up-to-date, and bringing speakers into the classroom in the way that works best for the classroom: in-person or virtually. This also includes implementation of mock interviews and Career Days, where larger groups of students and volunteers connect. This role oversees one full-time Program Associate and one part-time Program Assistant.
Job Responsibilities
Classroom Plus and Financial Matters Program Manager:
- Train, supervise and direct Classroom Plus’ and Financial Matters’ Program Associate and Assistant, overseeing their success within the program. Assist in identifying and interviewing candidates for the Program Associate positions when relevant.
- Plan and implement program projects and initiatives in order to reach goals and corporate objectives set by CEO, Vice President of Educational Programs and Board of Directors
- Recruit and maintain relationships with an active list of company coordinators, and work in tandem with Development to identify companies where a company coordinator is needed
- Maintain teacher and volunteer database.
- Program Management:
- Promote Classroom Plus and Financial Matters in a variety of forums including email newsletter, updating flyers, and cross promoting BestPrep programs to Classroom Plus teachers and volunteers
- Collaborate with BestPrep’s Education Outreach Specialist to ensure successful marketing and promotion of program
- Analyze program numbers and progress reports, maintaining accurate records of all Classroom Plus participation numbers
- Conduct Classroom Plus Career Days, working with Program Associate, corporate partners and teachers to ensure success of events
- Volunteer management:
- Ensure all new individual volunteers are oriented to the program, while discussing their volunteer preferences and specific information related to volunteering within Classroom Plus
- Collaborate with partnering organizations/entities to train volunteer employees and to coordinate efforts within Classroom Plus initiatives
- Arrange volunteers for speaking, mock interview and tour engagements while exercising high-level customer service through positive and timely contacts with teachers and volunteers
- Attend periodic volunteer engagements in the classroom in order to solidify relationships with volunteers and teachers, while ensuring quality of the program
- Mobilize Financial Matters Advisory Committee, who provide guidance and direction to the Program. Work directly with lead corporate volunteer who chairs the committees.
- Coordinate the efforts of Financial Matters’ Ambassador’s Speaker Club, including maintaining member relationships and members’ volunteer engagements
- Execute two Ambassador Speaker Events per year, designed to empower and educate volunteers on best practices, including scheduling keynote speakers, coordinating breakout sessions and managing logistics
- Coordinate with BestPrep’s Communications Coordinator to ensure proper media placement and publicity of the program
- Conduct surveys and analyze results to continually improve program processes and overall quality
- Present program updates and relevant information in BestPrep staff meetings and board meetings.
- Facilitate and direct team meetings
- Create recaps of all events, and/or initiatives, within program (i.e. mock interviews, career days)
- Develop a program recap at the end of every year, which includes program reach, program goals, numerical outcomes and yearly highlights
Other responsibilities:
Minnesota Business Venture:
- Attend one week of summer camp, providing administration support and staffing office as needed
- Recruit and schedule all keynote and breakout speakers for Minnesota Business Venture, coordinating details of their volunteer engagement
- Work with Minnesota Business Venture staff to write and proof speaker biographies
- Greet speakers and coordinate speaker A/V needs
