The ABA Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources seeks a motivated editorial associate to provide support to the section’s publication boards, volunteer members and authors, and section staff. As an editorial associate, you will copyedit, proofread, and complete other tasks in support of the Section’s publications and committees. This includes supporting a bi-monthly e-newsletter, quarterly print magazine, our book publishing program, an annual digest of committee reports, and individual committee articles.
Editorial Associate Responsibilities:
- Work alongside the Section’s executive editors to plan, implement, and manage publication schedules.
- Proofread articles, marketing copy, and other miscellaneous reports to identify any grammatical and spelling errors.
- Collaborate with other ABA departments to ensure a smooth publication schedule.
- Oversee and maintain editorial calendars, issuing reminders to authors and other contributors to ensure production deadlines are met.
- Monitor performance metrics for web and email analytics, reviewing and reporting on performance results to stakeholders.
- Provide administrative support such as setting up meetings, creating reports, organizing and distributing meeting materials, and tracking and collecting author agreements.
- Creates and schedules social media posts, including writing content and designing images to promote publications, membership activities, and programs, while actively engaging with the audience.
- Performs other related duties as required.
To be a successful editorial associate, you will need to demonstrate an excellent command of the English language, with superb verbal and written communication skills. Please include a cover letter.
Required Education, Qualifications, Experience
- Possession of a High School diploma or GED.
- Prior experience performing light proofreading and/or editing.
- General office administrative experience.
- Experience utilizing Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint at an intermediate level.
Preferred Education, Qualifications, Experience
- Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Previous experience with a web-based content management system (e.g. Wordpress, AEM).

Extent of Travel Required in the Job
- As a normal course of business, this job will typically require travel of up to 5% of the time.
