Position Summary

The Office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost is seeking an energetic and talented communications professional to promote the academic priorities of the Provost's Office and to highlight academic excellence at the birthplace of public higher education.

Reporting to the Director of Communications for Academic Affairs, the Communications Specialist will develop digital and print communications-including newsletters, news releases, social media posts, and website content-for the Provost's Office and its units.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Competencies

Excellent writing skills, self-motivation, and attention to detail
Strong organizational and project management skills
Excellent teamwork and problem solving skills
Ability to provide leadership in a collaborative environment that includes representatives of several campus units
Experience with website content management systems
Experience with social media platforms and analytics
Proficiency with typical office software (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
Strong design and layout skills
Experience with Mailchimp, Blackbaud CRM (GAIL), Constant Contact, or other marketing email software platforms
Familiarity with photography
Ability to produce high-quality content under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Flexibility in adapting communication strategies to accommodate changing technologies and audience expectations

Promotes the programs and activities of Office of the Provost and related units through electronic newsletters, news releases, print materials, website content and social media.

Percentage of time 60 Duties/Responsibilities

Designs programs, brochures, and invitations for events sponsored by the Provost's Office. Work closely with vendors on printing specifications to ensure quality control.

Supports the UGA Arts Council and spearheads the promotion of the annual Spotlight on the Arts festival.

Produces biannual Diversity Newsletter in collaboration with the Office of Institutional Diversity.
