Small Business Majority is a national small business organization that empowers America's diverse entrepreneurs to build a thriving and equitable economy. We engage our network of more than 85,000 small businesses and 1,500 business and community organizations to advocate for public policy solutions and deliver resources to entrepreneurs that promote equitable small business growth. The Digital Communications Specialist is an essential role that works directly with several members of the team to support our social media development, digital marketing, blogs and more. The ideal candidate will be a creative and proactive individual who enjoys a collaborative team environment.

This position is full time and reports to the Vice President, Communications while partnering with the Digital Communications Manager and IT & Digital Communications Director. This position is located in Washington, D.C.

Responsibilities include the following:

Social media and digital marketing

· In coordination with the Digital Communications Manager, develop and implement new strategies and campaigns for the organization’s social media channels

· Develop weekly social media content calendar

· Support development and tracking of paid ad campaigns

· Create monthly social media analytics reports; research and track social media trends

· Additional event and social media support as needed

Graphic design and video content

· Work with the digital communications team to develop graphics, infographics and short videos for social media

· Edit videos for social media and YouTube

Educational content

· Develop a content calendar for our resource hub Venturize.org

· Write and promote bi-monthly educational blog posts

· Write monthly Venturize newsletter

· Develop infographics and fact sheets

General communications writing and support

· Interview small business spokespeople about their entrepreneurship stories; Utilize these interviews to draft blog profiles, letters to the editor and anecdotes for social media

· Other writing, editing and data needs on an ad hoc basis

Qualifications:

· Minimum 3 years of related communications experience

· Superior writing and editing skills

· Proactive and creative in nature

· Highly detail-oriented with strong follow-through

· Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively with various departments

· Experience with crafting compelling stories and campaigns for social media

· Experience with tracking social media analytics and trends

· Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Canva

· A keen eye for design (educational or professional training a plus)

· Knowledge of and experience using CRMs/databases (Salesforce) a plus

· Prior experience working for nonprofit and/or advocacy organizations a plus

· Bilingual Spanish a plus
