Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) is seeking a Part-Time Outreach Associate supervised by the Community Outreach
Supervisor to serve people experiencing homelessness
The Associate will
assist
in
facilitating
BPL’s programs and community outreach events at off site locations and coordinate with local library staff to conduct outreach at community locations and shelters.
Responsibilities
Assist
with distribution of books
, and
library materials to outreach locations
Track shelter and outreach visits
done
by Outreach and branch staff
Coordinate with Outreach Services Department and other library departments to connect patrons with library services.

sist with Resource list and monthly newsletter.
Maintain database of shelter point of contacts and community partners and t
rack administration changes and contact information.
Assist
with library events, whether set-up, break
down, and any pre-event preparation.
Support program reporting as needed
Serve as an enthusiastic ambassador for the library to partner organizations.
Provide reference and tailored referral to library services and community resources.
Participate in relevant trainings and meetings.
Qualifications
BA degree is
required,
MLIS candidates a plus
Bilingual in Spanish preferred
Experience in social services and/or community outreach
Ability to communicate (oral and written) with diverse audiences,
patrons
and partners
Strong organizational and planning skills
Demonstrated flexibility and reliability
An understanding of an urban public library setting
Excellent listening skills and strong interpersonal skills
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Demonstrated ability to work with a team and on independent projects
Ability to travel within Brooklyn
This is a part time position with an up to 19 hour work week at $23 - $25 per hour.
