MDC’s Financial Aid Access and Support (FAAS) Digital Navigator reports directly to the Workforce Development Program Manager. The Digital Navigator serves as the primary provider for individualized or small group assistance to all eligible community members who need affordable home internet service, affordable internet-capable devices, and teaching digital skills to enhance successful educational and employment pathways.
- Receives, returns, or initiates contact with participants seeking assistance or identified by MDC and other community partners for assistance.
- Helps track and organize application data, keeps accurate and timely records, and reports outcomes, as required.
- Communicates and coordinates with teams across the FAAS program and Education and Employment department.
- Conducts Digital Needs Assessment through discussions with each participant about their home internet access, or need for home internet access, technology experiences, and their devices and determines digital skill level.
- Advises participants about free or affordable home internet service options for which they may qualify and supports their efforts to secure service. Additionally, if they do not qualify for the Digital Equity program, connects them to other organizations or programs for which they may qualify.
- Drives program vehicle to deliver devices to community members and/or program services, as required.
- Provides digital literacy skill training to all program participants to include referrals to other MDC and community services and resources, as required.
- Represents MDC, FAAS, and the Education and Employment department with external partners and Community-Based Organizations on and off-site at all events whether hosted, co-hosted, or by invitation.
- Conducts program information sessions and presentations in the community, as required.
- Works closely with FAAS team to coordinate the successful implementation of program services, as required.
- As required, maintains a secured standardized filing, reporting, retrieval, and protection system for records, reports, and other information.
- Maintains assigned equipment and program technology devices and software.
- Maintains professional and consistent communications through all technology platforms i.e., Mobile, Blumen database, Outlook, Microsoft 365, social media, and all applicable apps, as required.
- Daily data entry of participant information and contacts into Blumen database documenting equipment and services provided, maintaining completeness and accuracy.
- Compiles and prepares monthly metrics, business credit card transactions, and receipts for the program manager to review and submit to MDC accounting team.
- Provides excellent customer service, establishes appropriate boundaries with staff, participants, and community partners, as required.
- Maintains automatic tracking system(s) to produce reports within required time frames for programmatic and evaluation purposes.
- Assists team with drafting, editing, and distributing monthly newsletter and correspondence, as required.
- Distributes organization and program surveys for evaluation and reporting purposes.
- Assists with maintenance and operation of office and mobile equipment including placing work orders for service and repairs when needed.
- Assists with research for programming needs, as required.
- Travels for conferences, training, and meetings, as needed.
- May assist with assessment and determination of eligibility of program participants, as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Schedule: Mon - Fri, 8am - 430pm, some evenings and weekends

- Prefer Associate degree in Education, Computer Science, Social and Human Services, or related field. College-level education will be evaluated with experience on a comparable basis. One to two years of experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Lived experience of digital divide and coaching digital navigation skills preferred.
- Must have own reliable personal transportation and a valid Washington State driver’s license.
