Public Relations Intern at Centre Area Transportation Authority (CATA), you'll gain hands-on experience in the areas of customer communications, social media content creation, event planning, and public relations.
This paid internship offers an hourly wage of $15-$17, providing you with the chance to earn while you learn. The Public Relations Intern reports to the Public Relations Specialist and is a member of the Business Development & Community Engagement Department.

Schedule
Internship begins on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, and ends on Friday, March 28, 2025. Work four days a week (Monday - Thursday) with a maximum of 20 hours per week.
Primary work location for this role: 2081 W. Whitehall Rd., State College, PA 16801
What does a Public Relations Intern do?
As a Public Relations Intern at CATA, you will assist with various advertisement initiatives of CATA's services to the Centre County community. Your daily tasks will include assisting in the creation and distribution of press releases and promotional materials that highlight our services and community initiatives. You'll write copy for CATA's monthly newsletter. You'll create
social media content for Facebook, Instagram, X, and LinkedIn, and learn WordPress website management to engage our audience and promote positive interactions. Additionally, you'll help organize community events and outreach programs.
Expect to collaborate with various departments to gather information for projects and assist in crafting compelling narratives about our transportation services. Regular meetings will provide insights into strategic communications planning, and you'll have opportunities to contribute your ideas and creativity. This internship is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of public relations within the transportation sector, all while building your portfolio!
Qualifications
Preferred Major(s): Public Relations, Advertising, Communications, Journalism, Marketing
Preferred Level of Education: College first-year and above
Required enrollment status: Enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university
Candidates Must
- Be eligible to work in the United States. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
- Possess good oral and written communication skills.
- Be proficient with Office365; content creation tools such as Canva; video editing tools like CapCut, iMovie, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign.
- Be eager to learn and able to work independently.
- Be able to adapt to changing environments and work well as part of a team.
