As a Commission Office Strategic Advisor, you will provide direct support to a commissioner in achieving individual and commission-wide policy objectives.
- You will identify and track progress of priorities for the assigned commissioner.
- You will collaborate with the commissioner to develop an annual work program and individual initiatives.
- You will conduct research, draft, synthesize, and/or edit briefing papers, memos, reports, and PowerPoint presentations as guided.
- You will collaborate with the scheduler to optimize the commissioner’s time to ensure clerical, logistical, and institutional demands are met.
- You will advise a commissioner on a diverse range of issues to provide the information necessary to make informed decisions and meaningful connections with members of the public.
- You will develop and facilitate opportunities for the commissioner to meet and learn with stakeholders.
- You will provide community engagement support by reviewing and developing talking points, recording notes, providing follow-up.
- You will provide regular committee updates to the Commission and help develop and manage committee work plan and charter as appropriate.
- You will create meeting materials and reports and provide coordination and logistical support with executive staff.
- You will review incoming correspondence daily and manage outgoing acknowledgment/response.
- You will create and manage a commissioner blog/newsletter content.
Who you are:
- Experienced – You have three (3) years of experience providing direct support to elected officials.
- Desired – We hope you have experience in tourism or environmental issues.

What else you need to know:
- Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). You may be required to work any and all assigned shifts, including weekends.
- Work Environment - This work will take place in a hybrid/in-office setting at Management’s discretion.
- Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
