We curate a homepage, daily newsletter, and social channels to give our audience the amazing stories, posts, and narratives they care about in the culture of sports. Our team finds the best, most compelling content across the Internet directly from the people creating it. But we do it differently. No aggregation, no clickbait, no AI, no hot takes. We're a team of real people continuously searching for the stuff you love because we love it, too.
This role will be the primary driver of our daily newsletter offering fresh cultural perspective and insight into the day’s news.
Role Responsibilities:
Newsletter: Write the OffBall Daily (M-F) compiling stories, social media posts, and deep dives into the news of the day delivered every morning to our audience in concert with our editorial team. We are looking for someone with a strong voice, strong opinions, and a deep connection to cultural trends and conversation.
Editorial Duties: Work closely with the editorial and creative teams to brainstorm ideas, plan content calendars, and ensure consistency in messaging and branding.
Content Mining and Research: Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, news, and developments in the sports and lifestyle industry to inform editorial team for homepage and social.
Newsletter Growth: Work with our community and social media manager to ensure that our content is engaging for our audience on social media.
Content Optimization: Work with our newsletter team to ensure content is continuously optimized for our audience based on insights, social media conversation, and increasing the visibility and reach of our content.
Adaptability: Be willing to cover a variety of sports and lifestyle topics and adapt to changing content needs and priorities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, sports management, or a related field is preferred.
Strong passion for and knowledge of cultural conversations (fashion, media, business, art, design) and where they intersect with sports.
Excellent writing and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, startup environment and meet tight deadlines.
In-depth understanding of social media platforms and relevant influencers in sports and culture.
Creative mindset and the ability to think outside the box.
Basic graphic design and video editing skills are a plus, but not required.
