Job Summary
The City of Greeley is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Marketing Specialist. This position is responsible for crafting and communicating the City of Greeley’s business growth strategic priorities and developing strategic communication and marketing plans using primarily paid and organic strategies and storytelling that support housing and economic growth development, small businesses, and community partnerships. The Marketing Specialist works collaboratively with designated leadership to develop, implement, and manage high-level strategic marketing and communication plans using multi-mode communication and engagement practices that integrate messaging across PR, traditional media, social media, and digital and event channels. This position is a natural storyteller, celebrating and sharing the highlights of the City of Greeley to elevate the perception and image of our community in ways that support our local economy.
This position plays a vital role in shaping and amplifying Greeley’s business growth and economic development voice and identity. This position is a marketing and communication champion who works closely with cross-functional teams and contractors and leads efforts to draw new development and continued growth of current business relationships. This position plays a pivotal role in amplifying marketing strategies to drive economic growth, attract businesses, and enhance the overall brand image of Greeley. The ideal candidate will be a creative thinker with a passion for economic development and a proven track record in executing successful marketing campaigns.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in marketing or advertising or in a related field.
- Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in marketing economic development, B2B marketing, or related field.
Preferred
- Five (5) years’ experience in a marketing role, creating strategy, along with developing and building communication plans.
- Five (5) years of media relations.
- Bilingual/Spanish-speaking skills are preferred.
- Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.

- Established media relationships.
- Proven experience in marketing, preferably in economic development or a related field.
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms.
- Knowledge of the business and organizational structure of Colorado municipalities.

- Computer skills, including the ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Word, Excel,

Essential Functions
Collaborate with Marketing Consultants and Local Businesses:
- Works closely with external marketing consultants to contribute to content and website development, advertising, and overall marketing initiatives for economic development.
- Ensures brand integration with economic development strategies to maintain a cohesive and impactful message.
- Collaborates with local businesses to identify synergies and co-create strategies that foster a supportive environment for entrepreneurship, aiming to attract and nurture startups while contributing to the overall growth and prosperity of Greeley's business community.
Business Community Outreach, Support, And Engagement
- Provides essential tools for economic development roadshows, including pitching stories, gathering and researching selling points for Greeley to attract new businesses.
- Assists in organizing and executing community outreach events to promote economic development initiatives.
- Provides support for events organized by the Economic Development team, ensuring seamless coordination and execution.
- Works with contractors to conceptualize and execute marketing campaigns aligned with business development goals.
- Cultivates and maintains positive relationships with local and regional media outlets, facilitating effective communication and coverage to enhance the visibility and understanding of Greeley's economic development efforts.
Content Management
- Coordinates and manages organic content for marketing and communication plans, advertisements, annual referral guide, and newsletters.
- Proofreads submitted articles and advertisements to maintain high-quality publications.
- Develops and manages the monthly economic development newsletter and special communications.
Database Management
- Maintains a comprehensive database of sponsors and advertisers for various publications, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
Digital And Traditional Marketing
- Utilizes a mix of digital marketing, content marketing, and traditional marketing techniques to effectively reach target audiences and promote economic development initiatives.
Data Analysis And Reporting
- Measures and analyzes the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, making data-driven adjustments as needed.
- Provides regular reports on key performance indicators to evaluate the success of economic development marketing strategies.
Communication Strategies
- Crafts and disseminates compelling messages and narratives that align with economic development objectives.
- Creates and executes communication strategies to communicate the county's value proposition and competitive advantages.

Work Environment And Physical Requirements
- Frequent and heavy contact with the public and employees in person and by telephone; and may experience adverse or confrontational situations with internal/external customers.
- Exposure to frequent background noise.

- Vision enough to interpret computer screens and documents to assist the public and complete work assignments; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Manual dexterity enough to accurately input, retrieve, and verify work assignments; employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
